Celebrity Fit Club~Carnie Wilson

Recommended Posts

I just heard this morning that Carnie Wilson will be on the next Celebrity Fit Club show on VH1.

I don't know if anyone else watches that show, but I do occasionally.

I watch it and love it. I heard she will be on there. I think that is good to let people know you still have to eat right and exercise to lose weight even with surgery.

Yeah she is going on there cause she has gained something like 70 pounds back since her Gastric Bypass. She says it is all from having her kid, but her actual doctor was on a discovery channel show and said it was from the stomach stretching from her eating in her old patterns. I hope she does well, and learns how to eat.

thank god I got the band...

Does anyone know the day and time it's airing? I like that show. It's a bit soap opera-y, but fun to watch. I like Carnie Wilson. I can't wait to see her do well. Losing weight is HARD, no matter what!

I really like Carnie, so if she's on, I'll watch. ood for her for putting her struggle right out there in the public. She's really doing it for all of us who've had WLS.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed, though. I cringe at the thought of all the WLS bashers out there who will be positively gleeful when they find out Carnie has gained so much weight back. I'm sure they'll see this as a cosmic payback for Carnie's attempt to take "the easy way" out of obesity.

I'm impressed by anyone who loses a ton of weight and then has the courage to get pregnant. That takes a lot more guts than I will ever have.

I caught a glimpse of Celebrity Fit Club today when I returned from my morning jog. That show is pretty awesome and wow, how celebrities are the biggest babies and excuse mongers I have ever seen.

I'm drawn to it now.

I picked up Carnie Wilson's book when I was considering weight loss surgery and the one passage that jumped out at me the most was her recipe for four cheese (or five-cheese) macaroni and cheese. Not grilled fish and brown rice, but macaroni and cheese. Now, I am a big proponent of "calories in-calories out" theory of weight loss, but even still, I am definitely staying away from white carbs, fats, and sugars except for occasionally. I would never publish a book on weight loss and include a very fattening recipe in it. I think she has a really serious eating disorder and wish her all the best.

. . . and the one passage that jumped out at me the most was her recipe for four cheese (or five-cheese) macaroni and cheese. Not grilled fish and brown rice, but macaroni and cheese. Now, I am a big proponent of "calories in-calories out" theory of weight loss, but even still, I am definitely staying away from white carbs, fats, and sugars except for occasionally.

I guess I'm looking at this from a different viewpoint because even though I am seriously committed to making the most of my Weight Loss Surgery, I don't eat my old "Low Cal Diet" staples like brown rice (I never touch rice, actually, since I honestly never crave it anymore) or the other so-called 'good' foods.

The thing I've tried to find since being banded - is some bit of balance. Extreme dieting and robotic goals didn't help me. I avoided bad foods, but even could eat a bit too much of 'good' foods. So restriction made a huge difference in helping my success.

. . . I think she has a really serious eating disorder and wish her all the best.

I hardly think I have an eating disorder just because I like a food that has higher-than-should-be fat content. Are any of us that perfect?

I eat tons of fish but sometimes I even have tiny portions of (horrors!) Fried Fish (the crunchiness of the batter appeals to me even if I only have a small bit of it.)

I've even had Mac&Cheese since I was banded (I don't eat red meat or pork, etc) since I love cheese but I now I rarely eat Pasta as my restriction level gets better.

So for me, I guess I finally realized that my old lifelong "Professional Dieter" eating habits still left me fat. Now I eat smaller portions of reasonable & nutritious foods that I like. I know this wouldn't work for everyone, and it makes sense to avoid eating lots of things in overabundance. But I'm trying to no longer label foods as 'good' or 'bad' even things like white sugars, carbs, etc.

Of course, I've had help. The more restriction I'm blessed with, the less of foods like starchy rice, potatoes, etc. that I eat. This also includes a lot of pastas but I can take a bit of real creamy Macaroni & Cheese (not that pasty boxed up stuff) now and then.

For once, it might be actually working. I'll just keep trying whatever works for me.

Did anyone see the new celebrity fit club? Weight related forums help me in my own weight struggle. I love to see success because it let's me know what I am doing is doable. I didn't know that Carnie Wilson had gained that much weight back and I didn't know that Angie Stone had sarcoidosis in turn the steroids she was on as treatment caused her to blow up. I think she is beautiful as is but she is use to weighting 133 pounds at 5'3".

I think its great that Carnie is there, dealing with this struggle publicly. She's letting the world see how difficult the struggle is. Let's face it, most of us have an eating disorder in one form or another or we wouldn't be here.

Celebrity Fit Club annoys me and fascinates me at the same time. Some of the celebs are strong and dedicated...really good role models. While others are whiney and childish...terrible public representatives of our population.

With that said, last season made me sooo happy. My husband has had a crush on the woman from Weird Science, Kelly LeBrock for as long as I've known him. I was like..."See honey? It happens to all of us...even hotties like her!":D

I watched the new season last night and loved it! I have watche dthe past 3 and this so far is my fave. I liked everyone in the cast... they all seem pretty down to earth and commited to losing weight and getting healthier. Tina Yothers is a hottie with dark hair! My hubby couldn't get over it. The guy from the Sopranos is such a sweetie! I too am glad Carnie Wilson is on there.... people think that bypass is such a quick fix and that's it, it is nice to see the reality of it is much different.

I'm looking forward to the rest of the season!

I rember Weid Science and I was jelouse of Kelly LeBrock. She had big lips before Angelina Jolie. LOL Did you husband say anything after she lost all of her weight?

I like that fact that some are role models and some are whiney because I can go in both directions. They just show me that there is no point of wasting time being whiney. .....but I still do it occasionally. LOL

My hubby thought she was hot before she lost the weight too. He says I look like her! Aside from his vision problems, LOL, he's a sweetheart.:)

You're right about getting whiney sometimes...I do too! I guess it's nice to know celebrities are not immune tantrums and frusteration. I should be thankful no one will be videotaping my weight loss!!!

libra the pressure of the video cameras would help the weight loss. I would be eating lettuce in front of the camera all day and then go in the cloeset to eat my 99 cent sugar Cookies from Giant. LOL

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
