I'm nearly a month post op and there is a smell that I can't figure out where it's coming from but I know its because I'm in ketosis-

Some days its real mild- other days its overwhelming (like now) and nothing I do gets rid of it-

To me it smells faintly of gasoline or chemical- website sources say its a typical fruity or acetone type smell- when people go into ketosis-

No one around me has mentioned it so it must not be overpowering- but I notice it. I'm constantly in brushing my teeth, rinsing with mouthwash but it's not actually coming from my mouth- It might be coming from my nose or.. it's just weird and bothersome- any advice on how to deal with it -

Yep, you're in ketosis and there isn't much you can do for it. It's not emitting from anywhere you can wash or mask the smell. Sorry.

It means you are losing weight. Be proud. I usually just bring it up. But I tell everyone I had surgery within minutes of meeting them.

Yep, what the last two said. It's emanating from your throat and nasal passages, it's ketones being burnt from your body consuming fat rather than food and storing fat. Think of it like a car burning oil, till you drop down to a level where you are drawing more energy from food than fat and have burnt off enough of the fat you're stuck with it. It seemingly comes from everywhere and no one can usually smell it but you, so don't worry.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
