I had a pos on my serum H-Pylori, damn. Dr. wanted to do an endo to take a look and a bx. to send in. I found out that a lot of people have a serum pos. espically in the medical field and I am a nurse. Since I am self pay, did not really want this procedure so we did a blow up the bag and then the air is tested. It seems once you contract this your blood will always be pos., but if it is inactive then a air bag test comes in neg. So if any of you want to save the cost of an endo on the H-Pylori, see if you can get the bag test instead. So now I am all set. I guess maybe with me being a nurse and this being a small hospital and my husband being a physician, I did not have to go thru a lot of the pre-op stuff that a lot of you did. One meeting with surgeon, one with dietician, one more with surgeon to sign consent and get pre-op diet.

Yeah - I Had to do that whole regimen for H-pylori and I honestly don't know if I actually had a positive case - since I'm in healthcare and you know

when they retest you- they don't even do the same test- so who ever knows if it was a current active situation or not?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
