I was sleeved exactly 3 weeks ago but have lost only 15 pounds...any words of encouragement would be appreciated!

That is fantastic! Wow- 15 lbs in 3 weeks.

I'm almost 4 weeks post op and I'm down 19 lbs- at 3 weeks I was about 15-16 lbs down. I'm just walking leisurely- haven't gotten to the gym yet because

I have 2 incision areas that are still scabbed and drain a bit when they get wet-(I want to do Water aerobics) so maybe in another week. But I plan to get my walking up to a faster pace and longer time- maybe several times a day. I'm using myfitnesspal.com to help me keep track of and manage my calorie intake, carb and Protein levels and exercise amounts- it's really helpful and you can add friends on there too or keep it private- I don't have any friends on mine yet but I love the tools offered- its really helpful for me to see if I've gone over my carb levels or how much more Protein I need for the day so I can plan wisely.

Well let me tell you.... When I hit the 3 week mark, I didn't move for 2 weeks. Even my Dr. told me that my weighloss sucked. But after reading about the "three week stall" I came to the conclusion that my body was just in shock and needed time to chatch up. I continued with my diet and after 2 weeks and TOM I started moving down again. So dont be suprised if you don't loose as fast around TOM and during the 3 week mark.

Keep your chin up, stick with the diet, only weigh yourself once per week and you will be fine.

I think 15 lbs in 3 weeks is incredible! You are doing a fantastic job and it sounds like you're right on point. There are some extraordinary cases where a few of us may lose a little more weight but that's just the dynamics of things. Don't compare yourself with anyone else. You are doing wonderfully!!

Keep up the good work and be encouraged!

Niki

15 lbs is great!! Don't be discouraged. I understand about comparing your weight loss to others. I do that too. I am 3 months out and have only lost 50 lbs. BUT i am thankful i am losing. I might not lose as fast as some other people, but thank goodness i am losing. KEep working your sleeve and don't be discouraged

I was sleeved the same day as you and I have lost only eight pounds, all within the first several days after surgery. I haven't lost weight in over a week, and as a matter of fact, have gained a pound and a half in the last two days.

Consider 15 pounds lucky!

I had a 2 week long stall between 2 and 4 weeks after surgery, and then it's been pretty steady between 2 and 4 pounds lost a week since then. I know it was discouraging, but we just dont lose as fast as bypass patients, and we have to give ourselves time to heal and adjust to our new normal. You are already doing great!!! Be patient with yourself and your sleeve, and in a few more weeks you will be much happier with your results - at 7 weeks out I feel like a new woman! :)

I kept telling myself... no matter whether I am discouraged or not, my stomach is tiny now, and I have no choice but to eat way less than I was before - forever! It will happen, and we have the rest of our lives to make it happen!

Good luck!

Jen :)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
