Missy<3 0 Posted October 3, 2011 THE DAY HAS FINALLY COME!! I had a really tough week on the pre-op diet...I seriously had a Toni Braxton, Unbreak My Heart, ugly cries in the shower this week due to me being so hungry and feeling so weak, but the day has finally come. I have an hour until I start my drive up to La Jolla, CA for my surgery. I have a sense of accomplishment because I didnt cheat on my pre-op diet and also because I have gone through so much in these past couple of years due to complications with my band. At the same time, I also have this looming sense of fear penetrating every nerve in my body. I've questioned my decision all week; am I doing the right thing? The right thing for me? But at this point I am convinced that I am. I am ready for a new life, or shall I say my second shot at a new life. I had a horrible experience with the band and never enjoyed my first shot at being thin because I was extremely unhealthy, and I am praying for a different outcome this time around. So here I am packed, ready to go...I dolled up for my doctor cause he's a dreamboat, well, dolled up as much as I could being that I can't wear makeup Oh! I forgot to mention, I lost 16lbs on my 6 day pre-op diet... hell yeah!!! Wish me luck!!!!

band2sleeve 1 Posted October 4, 2011 I didn't read your thread until the day after your surgery. I hope everything went well. I can completely relate to your nervousness going into the surgery date. I am exactly 2 weeks out from my band to sleeve revision. Unlike you, I didn't have to do a pre-op diet. I am only about 15# from goal and so the doctor didn't require a pre-op diet. Lucky me. I still remember how hard it was when I had my band surgery. So far, my sleeve is SO SUPERIOR to my band. It is sooooo nice to get up in the morning and not be so tight that I can't even drink. It is so nice not getting food stuck all the time. It is so nice not having acid reflux. It is so nice to be able to eat meat again. It is so nice not having it hurt to eat. The list goes on and on. My recovery has been so easy. Less pain than with the band placement. I didn't even need any pain meds when I got home from the hospital. My hospital stay was 3 days. My doctor is careful about leak checks. I hope your recovery is as simple as mine and that you enjoy the sleeve over the band. Like I said, I'm only 2 weeks out, but so far, so good! Get some rest and give us an update when you feel up to it. Shelli
