time2loveme 0 Posted July 19, 2006 I've read it, but I didn't learn anything new. It's an easy read. I'm sure I'll refer back to it after my surgery. Tonya
JulieLu 0 Posted July 19, 2006 It is a pretty basic book but full of facts. I can send you my copy if you want. Julie
Stitchy 0 Posted July 19, 2006 I bought it, too. And I agree, it's nothing new, but having it all in one place is good. No, it's not out of date. May 2004. BTW - Jessie Ahroni does my fills. She is a very no nonsense kind of gal. Tells it like it is.
Lana Ruth 1 Posted July 19, 2006 Hi  I haven't heard of this book I a recent bandie would you recommend it as a book to read. Plus is it avaliable in the UK. :biggrin1: LANA:bolt:
Stitchy 0 Posted July 19, 2006 I think it would be very helpful. I touches on a lot of topics, and you can curl up in a comfy chair to read. Have a cup of tea. You can find it on Amazon.com
lisah25 3 Posted July 19, 2006 I agree with the comments that there wasn't anything new in it that I hadn't already learned, but it will be handy as a reference later on. It's nice to have the info all in one place like that. Stitchy - Jessie does DH's fills and will be doing mine too. She is indeed no-nonsense, but that's what some of us need. sleepyjean 0 Posted July 19, 2006 I have it. Just like everyone says, you won't find anything new in if you've already done some research. However, I found it to be a handy little book and picked it up at least once a day in the month or so prior to my surgery. Re-reading certain sections was a bit reassuring when I was stressing out. I also found the fact that the author is a doctor as well as a bandster made it a bit more credible to me. I haven't looked at it since, but that doesn't mean I won't! It's nice to have a book that's JUST about banding. I also have WLS for Dummies but it's about GB and LB, so it's a bigger book and contains a lot of stuff that isn't relevant for bandsters. leatha_g 4 Posted July 19, 2006 Jessie's great! She definitely doesn't 'mollycottle' anyone and I love her for it. She gives LOTS of her time on the Smartbandsters Yahoo Board and is very good at keeping her place as a bandster and not necessarily imposing her medical expertise in the field. She's a wise, wise woman and I am SO thankful that I ran into her early on when I was doing my initial research and in my early banding stages. The book is a very helpful tool for those considering banding or early on, but reading her daily input on Smartbandsters was even more helpful to me when I did it. I no longer keep up there, but I do go back now and again and see that she is still sharing her wisdom and guidance. God bless her for it.. she's a great gal! *susan* 1,709 Posted July 19, 2006 What about "Lapband for Life". I saw that on Amazon.com and was thinking about getting it. Or, does it basically have the same type of information as the other one mentioned in this thread?
diva 0 Posted July 20, 2006 Thanks for all your replies. I may pick it up on Amazon. Seems like LBT should write a book!
