Ok my sleeve family I need your help.

I went to the doctor for my 6 month follow up. So let's start with the stats. I started my journey at 240lbs. Currently my crazy set of scales are reading 179.8. That is a whopping 60.2 pounds gone forever. My BMI is currently at a 30. The doctor wants my BMI at a 20 to 25. So he tells me that I need to kick my workouts up a notch. Currently I can walk on the treadmill at a 3.0 or a 3.5 and I add a incline up to a 8.0 to get the heart rate up. Do you guys have any ideas on how to continue loosing ? I was kinda bumbed at the doctor as Hate gyms...am i going to have to join a gym? Any suggestions or ideas would be welcome. Currently my diet I try to stay between 800 and 1000 calories. I try to get between 60 and 90 g of Protein and I try to limit my sugars to 30g or less. Some days are better than others.

I did not fight this hard to stop now. I want to make it to my goal weight 150!

I am looking forward to your help.

Hey,

congrats on such a good start.. I think you are doing really well and a little surprised at your doc's comments!

Anyway, you could try a range of activities ... that will stop the boredom! You don't have to be a slave to the gym... when you are on the treadmill do interval training... walk at 3-5 for a min, the run at 5 for 30 seconds and repeat for 10 mins to start with... that will shock your body, raise your heart rate etc. You could also try other forms of exercise... swimming, strength training, aerobics, zumba etc... just some suggestions. I know these aren't for everyone but I dabbled in them until I found the exercise that I liked and knew I would stick at. I go to a boxing gym to train, it is a proper boxing gym - the coach there is on the Common Wealth games under 18 coach team - and he is really good. I love it! I also go to the gym and mainly use the treadmill too.

I am not sure if this helps any, I hope so... lol... good luck! =]

I agree with Coops. My doctor's number one recommendation was to do the intervals on the treadmill. It keeps your body from getting too used to the workout. I started walking 3.4 pace/jogging 4.0 pace, slowing increased the length of time I was jogging. Now doing jogging 4.3 pace for 3 min & then adding in a minute at 4.8 pace. Once I can do 20 min at a 4.8 pace I will try to add in a few minutes at 5.2 pace. It really helps cardiovascularly. Good luck!

I bought a stability ball, and I already had resistance bands. I use those in addition to walking/dancing. It is fun and tough, and it helps me strengthen my core, which is where I have always been fairly weak.

I found some ideas in the fitness area of this board as well. I ordered a book on calistenics (spelling?) from Amazon that I'm waiting on.

For me, I feel like I need to get the toning and strength exercises as well as the cardio to get the results I want. I just started the strength/toning stuff.

I also plan to try Zumba and am considering joining a gym or Curves. I am being hesitant about the gym because there isn't one close to where I live/work. I do however tend to haul my kids quite a bit to various after school things, and I am thinking it might benefit me the most to go to a gym while they are at their activity. I'm going to try it for a while before signing up for a membership I might not use.

As part of my surgery cost, I get a consultation with a personal trainer. I am planning to schedule that consultation for next week and hope she can help me quite a bit as well.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
