I know there are some on here, and have posted about this before, might try and do a search to see if you can find the info... mine was about 36 if I remember... at two years, I still need to lose 18 pounds, but thats not bad at all in my opinion! My doc said ecpect to lost 50 pounds, I lost 67 (actually more, but thats where I am now after 2 years and a bounce)

Hello and thank you for your response.

I am fairly new to this site and I have gone through to try to find some sleevers with a lower BMI, just not sure how to do. Any tips you can pass on to me would be appreciated.

Congratulations on your loss, that is amazing. How much did you lose the first 3 months post surgery? I am also hoping I don't have any loose skin issues. I am 52 so that may not be avoided. I know if I can slow it down a little it will help with the loose skin issue.

Thank you again and I look forward to hearing from you.

Annie

H Annie04!

My BMI was 36 and Tomorrow will be two weeks since my surgery. I am 5'3" weighed 204 prior to surgery. Since the week before I am down to 180 and thrilled. My goal for the surgery was to improve my health. I am diabetic, asthma, sleep apnea, high cholesterol, etc. too many to list and bore you with. I can already tell a big difference in my glucose levels. My goal is still to improve my health. I will be 60 in May and want to enjoy the rest of my life the best I can.

Best of luck!

Thank you Jilstep, and congratulations on your progress so far.

I also have weight related health issues and I am looking forward to resolving them when I have my surgery. I feel the same way about enjoying the rest of my life. I also believe that this will help me to live longer and healthier.

Hopefully we can stay in touch.

i had surgery on 1/15/13. My highest BMI was 37, day of surgery was 33.6

Today is 8 weeks out and I have lost 30 lbs.

I have days where I worry I am not eating enough and days where I worry I am eating too much. LOL!

Only issue I have is trying to get in liquids and still have time to get food in, but the veterans tell me that will come with time. I have been craving something crunchy and salty, but it's different. In the past I would have gone to the grocery store to buy some chips or popcorn. Now, I think about it for a minute and then forget about it.

Love the support from this site!

That is amazing, Thank you Mama!!

I hope that I get the same results, or at least close. I need to lose about 80 pounds.

I am curious who did your surgery? Was it in the states or Mexico?

I had thought I would have it here but now I am starting to think I should go to Mexico to save about $5,000. I just need to find a comfort level about it if you know what I mean...LOL

Thanks for any input.

Annie

i had mine done by Dr Aceves in Mexicali which is a stones throw from California. He's more expensive ($8750), but a good friend used him 4 yrs ago and I wanted first hand recommendation. The hospital has an ICU and was all the staff was very professional. We joked that there were no goats or chickens.

I am an RN and was impressed with the whole process.

Hi Mama,

I am looking at Mexico because of the price difference. I can do it for $10,400 here in Las Vegas, NV (cash price Dr. Umbach). But now I am looking at half the price with Dr. Ortiz or even Dr. Ponce Deleon. I am starting to have more of a comfort level as I hear the experiences of other Mexico patients.

I am not worried about complications, but I hear that there is a doctor here that will see you if you had your surgery in Mexico. Otherwise I would be at the mercy of the emergency room. I like that the doctors in Mexico test you for leaks, but they don't do that here. I also byou ve that if you have it done in Mexico, you must be diligent with the post op diet, because if you are not, that is when problems can happen.

I am so excited that you are doing so well. That is such great progress. I am going to be diligent and I am looking forward to great results as well. Thank you so much for sharing and please stay in touch. I will post when I get my surgery date...WooHoo, I can't wait!!

My BMI was 37/38. Pre-op diet 2/14 Wt-231 (30 carbs a day/800-1000 cal). Surgery 2/28 Wt-212. Today I was 199. So 32 lbs since 2/14. Feel fabulous....I was way to my energy!

Congratulations, Tina!

I am between 33 andand 34 BMI and I would love to follow you and hear about your progress.

What doctor did you chose in Mexico? I would also like to know how much you have lost in the last 2 weeks and with your preop diet as well.

I am looking at Dr. Ariel Ortiz out of OCC in Tijuana.

Can't wait to hear about your journey so far.

Annie

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
