Fat Pads

Sigh... do these disgusting fat pads under the arms ever go away? I am 40 pounds down and they haven't budged. I suppose at some point I could get them cut off but I had wanted to save my cosmetic money for new tatas or my neck or the extra skin off my stomach. Has anyone at least had them shrink?

Lol- I had to laugh because I just noticed that mine had pretty much disappeared a few days ago. Of course, at this point, I'm thinking an arm life might be needed along with a breast lift, so I'm thinking that area would get fixed even if the fat there hadn't disappeared. Now I'm waiting on the stubborn fat on my legs which I think will never go away... had fat legs even at my skinniest :(

I'm having a heck of a time with them as well. I feel like I "swing in the breeze" as I walk. What I have been doing now is going on evening walks (about 2.5 miles) every other day I use five pound weights in each hand and as I walk I swing my arms in the normal walking fashion and then when my arms get tired I alternate between different weight lifting movements (curls, tricep lifts ect).......I hope that it works, I have noticed my arms a bit tighter and I have been doing it for three weeks.

Well that works for the arms but what about the fat pads in the arm pits? That is what I was refering to. Too bad we can't program our fat loss... LOL Take the fat pads in the armpits first, then the belly fat, then the extra bits off the bottom and leave the tatas alone. sigh

Who ever figures out how to do that out and sell it could be a billionaire! laugh.gif

I believe in massaging the areas where you want the fat to disappear. I have those fat pads too so when I take a shower, I rub the heck out of them, along with that little bulge on my lower tummy and the other areas that I am sincerely hoping disappear with the next 30 lbs. I lose. Who knows if it works, but it makes me feel like I am doing something. It definitely increases blood flow to the area. Try a back exercise for the fat pads. I believe the dumbell rows will target the area that is closest to the fat pads (at least where mine are): http://exercise.about.com/library/blbackexercises.htm

Isereno, while it certainly can't hurt there is just nothing we can do to "spot reduce". The body packs away fat as it's been genetically programmed to and these "problem spots" are the first to gain and the last to go. Even if you lose enough to get these areas down there might still be excess tissue there. Lipo or surgical removal is the only answer then.

I'm down 165 pounds and look pretty thin but when I lie down the wife says I look like a flat tire, the excess skin and subdermal fat just kinda flows out to the bed and makes it look like I'm melting. Oh well, it beats being fat anyways.

Lipo or surgical removal is the only answer then.

I totally agree with this! That is why I've chosen to start the lipo route. I know I don't want to lose much more anywhere else as I feel excessively thin in some areas, so on the ones I'd like to lose more, I'm having them removed.

I really don't feel the need to lose more weight for myself.

Good luck to all! I wish there was a perfect way to lose weight! It's especially difficult the more we have to lose.

Ugh. Rootman and Diva, I know you guys are right. I guess I will just wait till i get to goal and see if there's anything that bugs me so much I want it suctioned or cut off :-) In the meantime, I will be rubbing and exercising anyway. Maybe I'll get lucky and get a placebo effect :-)

It doesn't hurt to do spot toning! I do it too, but I think a lot of it has to do with luck. I do a lot of arm exercises and my arms came out really good. I also do spot workouts on my thighs but no luck there... ;) So, keep doing what you're doing, it just may help some or enough that you will be good to go without the extra surgery.

*hugs*

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
