Thanks, JKR! I'm very excited and it helps to hear about experiences such as yours. Perhaps you could share some more about what it has been like for you when you have a chance. I'm learning as much as I can so that I, too, can be successful.

Hello Sharon,

I'm 62 now but soon will be 63. It's incouraging to know we can still loss weight even in our 60's.

Keep it up! Your an inspiration to me!:clap2: I can hardly wait to get mine done!

Nina

Hi All:

I was 62 when I got banded, will be 64 in a few days, and it is the best thing I have ever done for myself. It has been a learning experience, and has totally changed my life!

I just have a very small amount of saline in my Band, 0.75cc, went up to 1.50cc, but had problems with PB's. I am only 25lbs from my goal and it is very slow losing now but easily within reach!

Wishing you all continued succes on this Journey.

Howdy, Y'all! I'm 52 and hoping to be banded November 1. I'll know for sure after my doctor consultation next Thursday. I've been catching up on this thread and I'm looking forward to sharing my experiences with others who may understand me a little bit more. :) Good luck and keep posting!

Wow! I wish I could say I lost 70 lbs. It's going so slowly for me.

I had bad pb last night again. I tried to eat a very thin crust piece of pizza. Won't be trying that again.

I keep battling the same 3 -4 lbs and can't seem to get below 50 lbs lost.

I know I can't handle anymore fill though

That's the good thing about the band - it won't allow you to eat stuff that isn't the healthiest - Do you like fish - it goes down real easy -

I eat fish 5-6 nights a week - bake it and eat tons of yellow crooked neck squash - also my band does allows me rice - I only make 1 cup (cooked) at a time and put 1/2 away for the next nights dinner.

Hi Y'll,

I have all my pre-op requirements done, just waiting for the Ins. Co's Blessing. :):D

My wife Nina (yayaflowerlady) seems to be more interested in having the Banding done also. She's (just like all the rest of us) worried about complications, not working etc. As soon as we see my Dr. again we will talk to him in detail about Her health problems, her relatives that dyed early, etc., etc., that should convince him. If we could be banded not too far apart in time, that might work out good.

Until next time,

Don

Yes Don it would be great for you to be banded together - I think that would be the ideal sistuation since you both then would be eating the same healthy food togetther

Green: At least you kept your sense of humor! Sorry it's been such a rough go. Let us know in a few weeks if you think it was worth it. My sister in-law had a face and neck lift and I know she had a lot of pain. She also had them put filler in her lips. After watching everything she went through not sure I could put myself through it, but I don't know, vanity is a strong pull! May your recovery continue to be good and speedy!

Since this last fill it's very tricky what will work and what will not. I have pbed really badly on fish, but most of the time it works well.

Had a bad experience tonight. Went to dinner with some girlfriends who chose a Thai restaurant. I knew there wasn't one thing on that menu that I could eat. None of them know about the band. I spent some time in the bathroom sliming, but luckily didn't throw up. I won't be going for Thai food anymore either.

Denise822 - I had trouble with thai food too. Especially the spring rolls (not fried). I do better with meat in a sauce. No rice or large chunks of anything.

It was a sorry surprise, because I love those tastes. I had trouble with Thai shrimp and scallops just this week. I need to cut my fish up really small and chew, chew, chew....

Throwing up isn't as bad as having a mouthful of slime and pain in the chest.

Yuck! Anyway if you don't have a special baseball team, root for the Rockies. They are playing Sunday night. It is amazing that no one was even that supportive until they became a winning team - I guess everyone loves a winner.

Hugs to all of you,

Michelle

Before this last fill, I could pretty much eat whatever I wanted. Now, vegetables give me trouble, unless they are cooked to mush.

I ordered Soup, not knowing it would have huge hardly cooked vegetables in it. It really kind of sucks not being able to eat veggies anymore. But I have a lot more weight to lose!

We were babysitting our three youngest grandchildren this afternoon and evening. A little before bedtime, Grandpa took them in to the kitchen for a snack of milk and cookies.... home made chocolate chip cookies!! So he brings me one little tidbit of a cookie. It wasn't even enough to call a "bite" of a cookie. I savored it for a few minutes and then I hollered in to the kitchen, "Hey! Couldn't I have like maybe one HALF of a cookie???" Before my DH could answer, our 5 yr old granddaughter chimed in with "Don't you know you're not supposed to have any sweets??!! You're trying to lose FAT!" My DH came back in the living room, trying hard to suppress his laughter, and gave me another nibble of a cookie!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
