Recommended Posts

Everyone's diet is different post-op, but just wondering what anyone else's is like.

Mine is 1 week of Clear liquids, 1 week of full liquids, 1 week of mushies and then I can start to introduce reg food.< /p>

Thanks!

I was on Clear Liquids with Protein for two weeks, six weeks of full liquid and then mushies for one weeks. I can officially start adding food in sometime in October. Unofficially, I started mushies early, and I am slowly adding foods that I can chew up well.

For me it was clear liquids while in the hospital, full liquids for two weeks, and then mushies for six weeks.

I was on clear liquids only for the two days I was in the hospital post-op. Then full liquids for 2 weeks, pureed foods for 6 weeks, soft foods for 4 weeks, and then on to full diet.

I'm on full liquids for 2 weeks (although my surgeon is extending that an additional week due to my trouble with getting fluids down still), 2 weeks thin puree, 2 weeks thick puree, 2 weeks soft foods then it's ok to reintroduce regular food back as tolerated. I'm hoping to be on regular food by my cruise Dec. 11th.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
