RRcubed 2 Posted September 30, 2011 I love that idea with the doctor. There will be some definite education going on.
christin 54 Posted October 1, 2011 I would consider myself a huge success if I lose the same amount as you! You are doing great and don't let those comments attach to you. Keep up the good work! And threads like this remind me why I am not telling anyone about my surgery! :fear:
virtygirl 11 Posted October 2, 2011 In the same timeframe, 2.5 months i've lost 34 pounds, which I think is great. Compared to your loss of 57 pounds, you are doing fantastic!!! Don't let anyone convince you otherwise. People with misguided intentions especially loved ones tend to "be helpful" but it does not quite hit the mark, and comes across as hurtful. Don't dwell on it, let it roll off and you keep working your sleeve knowing that your loss is permanent compared to the BL contestants who more than likely will gain it back once they go home back to real life. Awesome job!
longer-life 139 Posted October 2, 2011 She asked how much weight I had lost and I told her over 50 lbs. Not telling her how much you have lost and why you are not disclosing the information, might also be a solution. Follow that by educating her or taking her to your doctor, like others have said, and she might become your ally. If her comments were out of jealousy and not ignorance, then prepare yourself mentally when the inevitable stalls and slower weight loss come your way. It would be terrible if you let her bring you down at that point. Congratulations on your attitude and awesome weight loss. When I grow up, I want to be like you. longer-life 139 Posted October 2, 2011 I had my surgery and went back to work 2 weeks thereafter, and there was one lady in the clinic who literally came up to me and said "I thought you had surgery?" I told her I did and her comment just blew my mind. . . she said "so why aren't you skinny?" My sister who is thin, has had liposuction and is not dumb, thought this about a coworker! It is pure ignorance. As a thin person, obesity and my struggles are not something she has to give a second thought. I guess she figured she walked out of surgery with a smaller waist, we should walk out being thin. lol
