For those WITHOUT Gall bladders!!!!

Recommended Posts

For some people, this results in GI distress, diarrhea, etc.

I hope that helps and that you're recovering well.

Hello You hit the nail on the head. I went today for my last supper before my Band surgery in a week. I went to cici's and I didn't want to be terrible because I have lost 7 more lbs. and want to lose another 5 before surgery. I went for the cinn rolls, they are my fav. Now I ate no pizza, I only ate salad with low fat ranch. The I ate 3 cinn rolls. Don't know which one did it, but I am happy That will NEVER be my lunch again... LOL LESSON LEARNED>>>

I have been banded for 2 year and I need to have my gallbladder out. I have been have back pain and shoulder pain for 7 months and have been told it was just stress. When I talk to the surgon she said I didn't need it out and lets justwait and see what happens. My band doctor was upset because he said that I can lose my band if I get infected. I would prefer not to have it out but worry about losing my band. Should I just let it go and wait?

Another thing does the gallbladd have anything to do with weight loss?

I've never noticed any problems since I had mine out 25 years ago. They told me a lot of people have problems with citrus, but it's never bothered me.

Jen, I've had my GB removed 13 years ago. I have a huge problem with greasy and fatty food, it just runs right through me. salad and some foods with sauce kill me too. To the point of which i'd rather puke my brains out, rather than sit on the hopper all night. LOL

I had mine out 5 years ago. I can't tolerate iceberg lettuce at all. I can eat spinich salad in moderation, but raw bell peppers give me a hard time. Fried foods almost always make me feel queasy.

I just had mine taken out two weeks ago. My band surgery is one week from now, so I have been eating little or no fat for a while now. My question is:

What foods upset your stomach now that your gall bladder is out?

Lettuce has been giving me fits, is this something that get better over time, or am I just stuck to a life with no salad?

Generally gallbladder removal (cholecystectomy) should not affect your stomach directly. Some patients will note a difference in ablility to digest fatty meals, and as a result may have loose stools, or diarrhea, for a short period of time after surgery. This is because the flow of bile into your intestines is altered, and bile salts help package fat for digestion/absorption in the intestine.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
