The 1st Day Of My Gastric Sleeve Surgery Journey

Recommended Posts

ive had my gall bladder removed (2yrs ago) and my tonsils (at 7). i had a gall bladder attack on thanksgiving & was rushed to the hospital & was there until sunday. the pain wasnt too bad but i did get pain meds every 4hrs whether i needed it or not.

the worst part was getting my menstral and then getting diarrhea. it was non stop. id be midway walking to my bed & id have to turn back around. it was horrible. then to reach back & wipe was PAINFUL!!!

So u r well prepared for what's to come I'm sure. It's my first surgery. ;0)

I had that experience with the night time shift nurse. I'll never forget it. Ugh. Anyway I hope this time around the staff is better for your post op experience! :0)

Good morning everyone. I don't know why I woke up with slimes and then took two sips of Water on empty stomach n had to throw up cuz it wouldn't go down with horrible pressure pounding headache. Maybe it's cuz I had too much salty cheese last night am hour b4 bed. Blah

It's not easy to learn to eat out. I gave it one more attempt. I'm one month out and I threw up six times before and during a movie yesterday after a frnd n I ate lunch. I am starting to think the constriction is stress related too. It's overwhelming to eat out with friends that don't know bout the surgery. Pain is still on right side, especially after throwing up and coughing or sneezing. Today I walked two miles hoping the scale will finally drop!!!! It hasn't moved in over a week.

It's a little over one month n I started driving very short distances. It hurts my right side in belly but I think it's just the muscle n tissue. I wear a really fluffy sweater under the seatbelt. I'm actually not supposed to drive till next wk but I'm ok for going slow to market n bank.

Also I threw up at home tonight after even taking my anti naseau when having two really thin chicken slices n one spoon mashed potatoe. N I got what u all call the slimes. I spoke to my mother n I think she's right about getting fresh chicken n not eating these processed foods anymore.

So I increased my walking n yeahhhhhh I lost three more pounds finally!!! :0) now I'm down from 255 to 222 but it took a month to get there. Better late than never tho. I also keep throwing up but I'm pretty sure it's acid related. I need to increase my acid med to twice a day I think. Have a great weekend. :0)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
