Tonight I'm feeling depressed Having heavy thoughts about the surgery/journey so far and crying. Trouble sleeping. It hurts. Feeling all alone. I guess it's normal . Trying to stay positive. Only my parents know about this n they r doing the best they know how but wishing I had friends there too or siblings I was closer to..., but I'm very thankful for this site n u guys during this process. Im learning a lot about expectations n life lessons n revelations during this journey so far. I hope n have faith for a better tomorrow. I'm thankful I'm alive and for my sweet animal pets. Tomorrow I will walk more...something healthier for ME.

Thank u for your kind words. What I am writing in this thread I guess goes with the territory of this surgery n I know I'm not the only one who has experiences like these, n others r not alone, but I'm writing it down in more detail I guess and more often. Its nottt a "sad" story/journey at all and I want to emphasize strongly though that I do not regret my decision of the sleeve at all n I know it'll only get better, after it heals, as it did for thousands of others :0))))) thank u xoxo

Belly, If you need pain meds, take them. I have a VERY high pain tolerance, but many people do not. That's nothing to be upset about, whether it's high or low.

I think it's great that you are posting how you really feel. It's instructive for others who are thinking about taking this journey. The best part is that the pain you are experiencing now is temporary and you will be amazed at how great you feel once you're through the initial surgery pain and losing weight. If you remain this honest, your story will definitely show how much this surgery changes our lives! :)

Hi. I just joined this site :0)

I was approved by my insurance this week (Bluesheild CA PPO).

I have my Pre-op apt this week.

I will hopefully have my Gastric Sleeve surgery in 2wks.

I have been so nervous now that this is becoming a reality and have not slept in nights reading posts. This site has helped a lot so far.

My main concerns are healing, pain, vomiting, and possible leakage, etc.

I'm in my 30's and weigh 252. I'm 5.3ft

I plan to continue to post followups on this same thread as I go through this, so you can check in :0)

I'm in Southern CA

Thank you for your support.

I love your name! I think with issues this serious, we have to have a sense of humor.

I am in Southern CA as well (LA), and getting sleeved TUESDAY! :)

I found some Liquid Protein that isn't as bad as the shakes. It has 42 grams of Protein. I dilute them because they are just too sweet for me.I found them at Walmart & Meijer's...New whey liquid Protein, 0 fat & 0 sugar. Website is www.newwhey.com . I find these much easier to swallow then the shakes! Good luck to all! It does get better! :wink1:

My mom brings up a good point of her biggest fear regarding the sleeve . She is fearful I may go back to bad habits of consistently snacking on fattening things n eating too many times a day. I'd lie if I said I don't feel the same a little bit. How have sleevers dealt with that?? I'm hoping I make healthier choices n do not graze. I want this to b a success. I want my mom also to feel at ease about this concern

im not sleeved yet so i cant say for sure but from what i hear, the bad foods dont agree with u too much so it wouldnt feel good eating them after a few throw up sessions. also, if they r bad for u, they will fill u faster which means ull be eating an even smaller portion. u just have to really say to urself, "i went to the EXTREME to lose weight. when im down 75-120lbs (not sure how much u want to lose), ill snack on bad foods but for now, let me stick to this plan!" the 1st 9months is the weight thatll be hard to gain back so maximize that # & go from there!

i hope this answered ur question.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
