Lactose Free Protein Drinks?

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

I'm trying to find a Protein Drink that is lactose free. I've tried some Protein drinks including some that claim to be OK for lactose intolerant people and no such luck. My nutritionist had originally suggested Boost Glucose Control but I didn't tolerate it well. Then I tried Ensure Plus and had the same results. I need to find something my body can tolerate and hopefully taste okay too. Any suggestions?

Divis :help:

Try light Silk Soymilk with a scoop of Syntrax Nectar Protein. The milk comes in choc and vanilla and the nectar comes in a variety of flavors. I get mine from the Vitamin Shoppe. The nectar can be made with Water as well. Good luck :)

I'm lactose intolerant and Bariatric Advantage Protein Powder is lactose free. They taste good if you mix the powder with some lactaid or soy milk, not just Water. They are real thick. I liked the banana flavor best, vanilla second and chocolate last; stay away from the strawberry it tastes like pepto bismol. They are a very nutritious, good quality product that you can order online.

Generally, whey Protein isolate is lactose free, but is more expensive that non-isolate which is why they are usually blended, but 100% whey isolate drinks do exist if you look for them. Check the usual suspects like Vitamin Shoppe or GNC.< /p>

I like the Jay Robb Protein Drinks. I don't like the egg white Protein but the whey protein is pretty good. Now if I could find a local place that stocks it!

This is what my nutritionist suggested. "Isolate" is the key word. I bought Vanilla Isopure whey Protein isolate at GNC. They have different brands available and you can return it if it doesn't work for you. (I blend with Torani syrups or a banana). I am pre-op though.

The Isopure premixed bottles work as well and taste like "juice" rather than milk.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
