I was sleeved on September 27th. Dr. Harrison was my surgeon. He was kind, listened to my concerns and is tracking my post op issues. I'm about 25lbs down. I have about 120lbs to loose total. I'm anemic, so I'm struggling with the affects surgery had on that. I was able to start taking my Iron pills last week though I'm still waiting to feel better. I'm also having acid reflux issues, which I've never had before. I've had several people tell me different things about both issues. The advise that's helped the most has been, "give it time cause in a few months things start to feel normal and the excitement of the weight loss kicks in." My doc said he makes the sleeve very small because it will stretch. I'm guessing, aside from swelling, that's the reason for food feeling like it's sitting in my throat. This is also the first time I've had surgery and the doc used glue for the incisions, no sewing. I'm very impressed with how they've healed. Very thin and clean. My husband is a wonderful support and my kids think it will be funny having a skinny mom, (me too.)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
