So post ops... what is your workout regimen ??? As I get further along on my journey, I need to mix it up a bit ...

So do you have problem area(s)? what exercise(s) are you doing to correct it? And is it working for you?

All Input greatly appreciated ... ( :

So my problem areas are my arms and yes my tummy ... and yeah would love to have a firmer and rounder but instead of this pancake ....

below is my pic 1- pre op 2- pre op 3 -1 month post op 4 -1 and1/2 month post op 5 and 6- current ... less than 2 months out and in Onerland... Yay!!!

I'm 6 weeks post op and I don't do any high impact exercises yet. I swim laps almost daily and take my dogs out for walks as much as I can. Just today I took my dogs out for an 80 minute walk down the bike trail :)

In a couple weeks I'd like to step up my workouts to include the elliptical and weight lifting!

I started walking in the hospital and over the first couple of weeks increased the distance till I was able to join my walking group again. We walk fast for about 45 minutes twice a week. The first time out, I had to turn around after about 20 minutes, take a rest, and then walk slowly home with one more rest on the way. The second time out, I turned back after 20 minutes and walked slowly back with no rests. Third time out I walked the whole way. I know they walked a little slower for me the first few weeks, but not super slow.

At 6 weeks, I went back to strength training with a trainer for 30 minutes three times per week.

At 4 months, I joined another walking group, so I'm walking three times per week now. I have also switched up the strength training, adding in a couple of classes and cutting back the personal trainer to once a week. Wohoo! That saves me quite a bit every week!

Here's my current schedule:

Monday: Body Sculpt (30 minutes cardio, 30 minutes weights), 5:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m.

Tuesday: Neighborhood Walking Group, 7:00 a.m.-7:45 a.m.

Wednesday, Body Pump (60 minutes weight training), 5:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m.

Thursday, Neighborhood Walking Group, 7:00 a.m.-7:45 a.m.

Friday, Strength training with trainer, 8:00 a.m.-8:30 a.m.

Saturday, Park Walking Group, 8:30 a.m.-9:30 a.m.

Sunday: Day Off

My problem areas are some fat lumps under my arms, a thick tummy, and thunder thighs. My upper arms are flabby underneath, but I've got pretty good muscles there, so it may be that I'm stuck with that. I'm not targeting any areas yet. I'm going for all over strength building and praying the next 33 lbs. I lose takes care of the rest as much as possible.

I didn't get back to working out until week three and it took a week to get up to a mile on the treadmill and then got up to normal 1.5 hour workouts around week 5. Surgery just saps your energy at first. A bit weaker than prior to surgery but building it up again.

I use a personal trainer who has and had others with the bypass surgery so she keeps me from doing more than I am capable. Started off sweating quite a bit, now getting back to normal sweating at 7-8 weeks post operation.

Typically, I run for 25 minutes and then do combination of resistance and cardio exercises that trainer sets up.

Yeah work it!! You ARE a cutie pie! And wow I can really see a difference in a major way already!!! Good job!!!

As for me and my workout, right now I can't sprinkle in my running that I oh so love. I have to settle for walking. Due to this I don't feel like I burn enough calories, so I have given myself a challenge to walk/or cycle 300 miles by Halloween. That's still not that much, and so far I've already got in 41 Miles. No, I haven't updated my ticker - I do that only once a day and I plan to do some in the early AM tomorrow.

So really this is what I'm doing, give or take something here and there. And its usually more than what I'll say I'll do... but that's just because I'm a workout nut.

Sunday: Cycling 10 Miles

Monday: OFF DAY (however I still walked 3 Miles)

Tuesday: Walking/Elliptical 5 Miles

Wednesday: Walking/Elliptical 5 Miles

Thursday: Walking/Elliptical 5 Miles

Friday: Walking 2.5 Miles and Cycling 7.5 Miles

Saturday: Cycling 10 Miles

thanks everyone for your input ... i love the idea of setting a October 31 goal ... not certain what it should be but ... i like the direct this thread is going ... Great ideas thanks for all the input ....
