NOT losing weight!

Recommended Posts

I am so discouraged! I am 4 weeks out. I lost weight on the week of liquids. I lost weight the first week or so after surgery. That's it. I know for certain that I am not eating but about 500 hundred calories a day, and I know I should be eating more, but just can't yet. I struggle to get in enough Protein in. I am NOT letting "soft" calories slip in. I am walking a mile everyday. Why is my body hanging onto this weight? I have tried to be patient because all of us know that we have yo-yo'ed our way to this point. Our bodies go into starvation mode when we suddenly stop eating after the first couple of weeks. I know all this, but its time to start moving the scales now and they just won't change. I an up and down the same 2 pounds every day. The scale has not moved below that in almost 2 weeks. Someone out there please tell me if you are having this problem and when it changed.

Hang in there NewKat! Lots of us go through this. I have two to three weeks stalls regularly! Especially in the begining! But then there's a big drop. Sometimes they are little drops, several in a row. I've been stuck for four weeks as well. Recently I've been "stuck" right at onederland's door! :-) I know it's super frustrating but it seems from everything I've read here and what I have experienced myself that this is pretty normal and part of the process. Don't despair. I focus on my nutrition, fluids and exercise. Somehow the clothes keep getting bigger and I'm looking better. So as hard as it is, don't freak about the scale. I'm sure others here will post more. Hang in there!!!! Sending good thoughts your way!

Your body is still adjusting to WTH did you do to me. Don't weigh everyday you will go nuts pick one day a week and weigh if you must. Did you take measurements before? what are they now?? There are NSV you are having that should inspire you. Clothes looser, jewerly loose, smaller clothes. Keep you journal and keep on track the scales will show you hard work soon enough. don't give up. remember this is only a tool and you have to keep working on it. try upping your walking to longer or faster pace. Add DVD excercise tapes or join a step class at the Y. You will be fine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

Hi... I know it is hard to try to do this, but PLEASE... like above post said, try to only weigh yourself once a week. It will help avoid the yo-yo flex you are seeing and the frustration you are feeling. Just my 2 cents!!! :D

Keep your chin up. I stalled at one week also and it was so frustrating. Your body is adjusting to the surgery and all the changes that are going on. Also, if you are only taking in about 500 calories your body is in starvation mode and is trying to keep you from losing weight. Since you are walking 1 mile a day you are burning the calories that you are taking in so you body doesn't have the fuel to keep everything going so it says "STOP". Try to increase your calorie intake and Water intake. If you are having a hard time with eating enough try drinking shakes with more Protein. nectar Protein powder is very good and has 23 gms per scoop. You can add it to yogurt, make a smoothy, shake, etc and this way you can increase your Protein intake. I was having a problem with stalling until I increased my calorie intake and took my body out of starvation mode. It is worth a try. The weight will come off in time don't dispare. Best of luck.

I think since you are starting back on regular foods at four weeks out, your body is holding on to everything. It feels traumatized because for the first three weeks it was hardly getting anything and your body was starving. Now it's holding onto everything incase you go back to starving it again. Since you are back to eating normal again and will continue to do so your body will start dropping pounds because it realizes you aren't going to starve it again. Good luck and I am sure you will see some weight loss soon.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
