Hello All,

Here are my stats for the week:

LindaV - J 269 / C 259 / G 220 (-1 this week)

I'm going for a much needed fill in about 2 hours and then meeting P'Nut for lunch. It's shaping up to be a great day!:biggrin1:

I think I'm ready to start Christmas now. The wonderful smell of the tree mixed with the pickling spices simmering on the stove top. I miss having a real fireplace. We have one but its a small gas one. In our previous home, we had a huge brick fireplace with a real mantle and hearth. Many a night we all sat around a roaring fire. I do miss that.

I'm ready for the feel of the season. It always comforts me. I'm ready for greenery and red bows and little white lights. I'm ready for snow and quilts and Bing Crosby. How many days do we have left?? Do you think it would be weird to get started in September? *smiles sadly*

Perhaps I'll pretend it's snowing while I'm eating a bowl of chili with Linda at Red Robin. :scalesno:

OK... I';m gonna tell ya all a secret...

It is my special egg nog recipe. Every xmas I make it, and people rave, but I never give the recipe... I'm gonna share it wil you all, but don't tell folks when you serve it...

OK. First, you need to use Dark Rum... much sweeter in flavor than the white. Has to be dark... the darker (and better quality rum) the better.

Now, melt 2 gallons of vanilla Haagan Daas ice cream (Has to be that brand, have tried other brands, and does not work as well). Sprinkle in some Nutmeg and cinnamon, and the rum (to taste) and whip it all up well.

Chill to just before re-freezing, whip up again and serve.

Can't be any easier, and people with think you have this amazing recipe to share! Don't tell them how easy it is!

No offense intended, but shouldn't you be doing liquids only for 24-48 hours after a fill?

Weekly weigh-in for 8-23-06:

225 J / 218 C / 199 G (-2 this week)

"Walking in a winter "one"derland."

OMG Paul! That's one delicious-sounding egg nog recipe, and it's got to be better than Borden-in-a-carton! But, and I know this is heresy, what if you don't drink? Do I just drink the melted Haagen-Daas? LOL! I love the egg nog flavor...

Hey Just Paul,

Considering how conservative my doctor is with most things concerning the band, the post-fill diet is not one of them.

I expected to be told to do liquids for a day or two following my first fill and when I asked him about it he told me I only need to be careful about foods that have given me trouble in the past.

Now, I'm not stupid and I'm definately around here enough to know to be careful and I am. Fortunately for me, I don't seem to swell after a fill and although I do take things slower the the first few days and try to stick with softer foods, I havn't had any problems yet.

I was so hungry yesterday by lunch, I opted out of onion Soup and had a half portion of fish (-the chips) and a small salad which it took me about 2 hours to eat.

My bigger challenge seems to be getting in enough calories and Protein after being filled. I lose best between 1400-1600 calories and need to get in at least 90 grams of protein/day or I start to lose muscle. It's definately challenging for a week or two after a fill.

Anyway, thanks again for the concern! By the way, I have been watching your transformation over the last few months--you look great!

My doctor keeps me on almost the same eating regiment as post-op. I do not get back to normal eating until about the 10th day after each fill.

I was operated on in Brooklyn and now live in Florida and both doctors have followed the same post-fill eating guide-lines.

Thanks, Linda.

Yeah, my do is a real stickler for the fill thing. He says there is some "trauma" and swelling after a fill, as he removes all the previous fill (to verify it is there) then readds it with more, and adjusts it so you have a new level of restriction. You don't go to his office asking for a specific amount of fill, and he doesn't even tell you how much he put in until you are done with the procedure, so you don't pre-judge how much he has added. For me, it works.

Afterward, 48 hours of liquids only, then 48 hours of muchies only, then slowly start adding solid food back in. Just like a mini-version of post surgery. He actually makes us sign a form agreeing to this after each fill.

Good thing is, there is usually a windfall of weightloss after a fill because of this, for me, -7 lbs in the past week... restarting my loss!

Glad to hear your fill went well! Get in that Protein, you are doing great!

WOW don't know how I missed this thread. Maybe the fact I don't get out of the NC threads much...

I LOVE CHIRSTMAS...Have bought the little man (my 3yr old) a few things but nothing major. I still have a lot of family to get for...so let the shopping begin.

Is it too late to join the wish list?

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
