Don't do it again. :-). I did that once - too fast and too much. I just had to suffer as I wasn't able to throw it up. It's a learning experience. That's for sure. I'm on my cell phone so I can't see how far out you are.

Oh god, yes that has happened. I switched to smaller spoons and forks after that. The pain was nearly unbearable.

You got that right guys! I will focus on chewing sllloooooooowwwwllly. I felt awful for almost an hour. And I was in the car driving home from WVU with my husband so it's not like I could go lay down or something. Dear God, please do not let me ever experience that again.

That is why we are supposed to eat SLOWLY!! It take a few minutes to realize that we are full. If you wait a minute or two in between bites, you will know when you are truly done and will not feel that way.

It will also help if you measure your food. If you are supposed to not eat more than 1/2 cup at this point, then measure that amount out and eat slowly. You will NEVER feel that way if you measure and eat slowly!!!

I am almost 5 months out and have never done that because I measure all my food and eat slowly. I guess you would only do it once tho if it hurts that bad!

Feel better!

Kelly :)

I have felt that way several times. Guess I was a slow learner! But Kelly is right, don't eat too fast and measure your food and it will fix it. Also, I can't eat bread, it makes me feel sick. That may have been part of it. I can eat crackers (two to three saltines or 5 small whole wheat crackers), but the soft bread bothers me.

I was afraid I couldn't throw up after surgery, but I did one day after eating a few bites of peach at Breakfast. It came up so fast it shocked me. I had the pain for just a minute, then whoosh! Also I got the foamies a couple of times after overeating. Really gross!! I was trying to eat to much to get my Protein in. I finally backed off and realized it's not worth it to feel bad. You can always drink more Protein if necessary.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
