FunnyDuddies 6 Posted July 18, 2006 Isopure!!! 40g of Protein, no carbs, 160 calories in one whole bottle, and it comes in a lot of sweet fruity flavors. It is completely clear. You'll love it!!
Bettina 0 Posted July 18, 2006 omg FunnyDuddie, you crazy woman....get that Christmas countdown off your signature! ethansgrandma 0 Posted July 18, 2006 premium pro-rated from costco. you can get it in chocolate or vanilla, mix it with skim milk. its pretty good. 128 cal, 1.5 fat, 27grams of Protein.< /p>
Olive 0 Posted July 18, 2006 OOh, this is my favorite, and I actually quite enjoy it! OPTIMUM NUTRITION 100% whey Protein Double Rich chocolate 2lbs (makes 31 shakes) from www.allstarhealth.com. I think with shipping it cost about $16-17. And I think it arrived in 2 days. I mix one scoop (120 calories, 25 protein) with 3/4 cup light vanilla yogurt, 1/4 skim milk, 1/2 tablespoon natural Peanut Butter and sometimes a little frozen banana. Yum. So, this one is much better than the other ones I have tried before. Hope this helps! Olive
Mvpo8961 1 Posted July 18, 2006 Mine is not a Protein drink but it was all I could do the first week after sugery. 2 cups skim milk (18 Gms protein) 1 packet Carnation Instant Breakfast (5 Gms protein) I also added a couple of teaspoons of Hershey's powdered chocolate. I tried several different Protein drinks before surgery at great expense. I don't know what happened to my taste buds but this was ALL I COULD DRINK without feeling nauseous. It gave me enough Protein and calories for the short time before moving on to thicker liquids and then mushies. My advice is don't stress over that first week. Drink what you can (uncarbonated of course) because the swelling is going to be there. Once the swelling starts going down you are able to get more calories and protein in. FunnyDuddies 6 Posted July 18, 2006 That article is a crack up. Sounds like the writer did all of about 15 minutes of research. LOL
clovermeg 2 Posted July 19, 2006 I went to the Archives of Surgery and found the article, there is ONLY ONE....the newspaper report makes it sound like there were MANY studies done....but everything he or she references is from the same article. I sent the writer an email.....I wonder if I'll get a reply????
Irish Girl 3 Posted July 19, 2006 I finally found one that I can drink. It tastes like watered down cocoa. If I make it really thin (about 8 oz water), it goes down pretty fast. And no Protein aftertaste. It is "Designer Whey", chocolate, of course. I found it at super supplements.< /p>
Bettina 0 Posted July 19, 2006 I like Designer Whey. But then again, I have been on so many diets, I can eat just about anything now and the taste is no big deal..lol. Gastric Bypass....hmmmm.....I totally supported my sis when she had it done. (her surgeon didn't do lap band at the time) At that time I was not heavy enough for the same surgery..which was okay because I was not a fan of having my stomach cut thru. But if need be then I agree it should be done. Her surgeon trained with Carni Wilson's surgeon..superior doctor. He is now my doctor and he trained for the lap band with the man who invented it. I spoke to the doc about the difference between the 2 -even though i wanted the band only--he told me that gastric patients lose the majority of the weight in the first year...because of healing-you are on limited food. After the healing...you are able to eat a little more therefore allowing the stomach to stretch to larger then when cut. With the band, you will always have the same size pouch and that is why weight loss can last up to 4 years after surgery. You have that opening into the larger stomach so the pouch doesn't need to stretch. So she lost 70 lbs immediately but now tells me that she needs tucking here and there.....I cannot afford that and want to lose the weight at a lower pace so that I can exercise and keep up with the firming of the skin while losing the fat. The part of the stomach that gets cut away controls your absorption of proteins...my sister had hair thinning and had to by hairpieces. But it grew back really nice!! She still dumps on occasion and she is 4 yrs out. She has even gained a little bit of the weight back, but if you ask her, she'd do it again in a heartbeat. So what all this means is do the research and do what works for you.
Kathi 0 Posted July 19, 2006 For the "Clear liquid Phase" post-op I used Isopure and Unjury... Now I use Designer Whey or Slim Fast High Protein Shakes.< /span> They are yummy and don't have a funky aftertaste.
DrewsLou 3 Posted July 19, 2006 I am a big fan of EAS Advant Edge Carb Control shakes. 100 calories and 15g of Protein. I tried a bunch of other ones and they tasted too weird to me. Kudos to those that can drink Isopure.... the consistancy of that stuff grosses me out, but it does have awesome protein!
