Lolly2369 18 Posted September 25, 2011 I am 20 years old, 240 lbs, not sure of my exact BMI but I know it's around 38. I have UPMC insurance and it would be great if anyone knew if that covered it as well. I am in college and I have gained 60 pounds in the last 2 and a half years. I just started my junior year of college and I'm afraid im goung to gain another 60 pounds in the next two years. Some advice please! My cousin recently had this surgury and she's 70lbs down in 3 months and I'd kill for that! I wouldn't want to lose more than 100l lbs and stay around 140. Also, Im from Pittsburgh area so if anyone is familiar please let me know. Thanks!
lisajxoxo 11 Posted September 25, 2011 Hello, and welcome! As far as insurance goes, your best bet is to call them ask because every plan is different even from one person to the next. My insurance co was able to tell me over the phone what was covered and what the requirements were. Also, I'm not sure anyone on here can tell you if you're a good candidate or not. It's really a decision for you and your doctors to make. Sorry, I'm not giving you the answers you're looking for but I do wish you the very best of luck! -Lisa
longer-life 139 Posted September 26, 2011 Your requirements might be different than another policy holder with the same insurance. Give them a quick call. They might even have it posted online. There are plenty of posters here that had surgery with a BMI around 38 and lower, if that helps. Google BMI calculator to find out your BMI. Best wishes!
