Poop! (there I said it...)

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I am a mere 7-days out of surgery. While I've not posted much, I have been reading like a lunatic for weeks.

So..."Poop!" I say. At the risk of proffering entirely too much information, I am both runny and running for the loo at least twice daily.

I certainly understand the assault upon my poor stomach. Heck, I can even appreciate the notion that it's paying me back for having lopped off & removed most of it..

My body has become a temple to GIGO - what goes in very swiftly comes straight back out again. I have little problem getting my Protein down (Fuzzy Navel or just a SlimFast shake), it's just keeping it there for longer than an hour or two.

Any indication of when I might begin to expect something resembling more normal service in the poop department? I'd dearly love to be able to leave my home with at least a little hope or confidence that I'll not be forced to plot the locations for all public toilets in both Wimbledon and Greater London...

Hoping for some reassurance!

Well, like you said what goes in comes out. So, liquids in, liquids out. It will be that way till you start on more solid foods. Also, you are right, your tummy (what's left of it) is really angry right now and needs to settle down a bit before it will get back to normal. My surgeon had me on liquids for 3 weeks, so it was tough, but things started going well again after soft foods were re-introduced.

Good luck and hang in there!smile.gif

I too was "runny" for about 2-3 weeks. When I was able to add real food..yogurt, pudding, mashed potatoes..then itseemed to stop and I had regular movements. Hope this helps.

I bought the softens toilet tissue I could find. Before doing this, I felt the worst part of the surgery experience was my toilet tissue. IF that is all that I have to complain about--not bad.

Thanks so much for all the replies! Silly as it sounds, I am actually reassured.

Thrilled to report I only went once yesterday, but it seems my bladder has now awoken with a vengeance.

I feel like Roseanne Rosanadanna - "If it's not one thing, it's another!"

Fortunately, so far, it's all good.

Hey there, glad to have eased your mind a wee bit. Just wanted to add that day 8 saw no poops at all. After such overkill, the poop break was much appreciated!

Still on liquids.< /p>

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
