Hello all!

I am freshly sleeved as of Thurs am! I knew I would face some problems with gas and/or acid but really!!! I feel blah/slightly flushed but reading 98-99 temps. I stayed in the hospital an extra day bc I had so much acid I couldn't get all my liquids in. Came home this am and still struggling! Called the Dr and he put me on Prilosec twice am and twice pm with tums throughout the day. I did not anticipate it being this persistent especially because I've never experienced it before!

Will someone PLEASE tell me when I will get better-I really need to look forward to that! Btw-yes I am doing lots walking!

Thanks!

What you are experiencing is normal. You will get better - by the second or third week my acid was much more in control. When I would feel acidy, I would drink Water and use one of those dissolving GAS-X strips. I took Famotidine (Pepcid AC) in the morning and prilosec at night. Also, drinking broth seemed to help the acid not be so annoying.

Hang in there - you are going through the toughest time of your whole journey. It gets better, and starts getting really fun as you see the pounds and inches melt away. I am spending the weekend getting all of my size 16's packed up to get rid of. I have dropped from a size 24 Women's to a size 12 or 14 Petite. I am still losing - have another 25 pounds to go. I don't know what size I will end up.

Good luck! :P

Congratz on your surgery, you will start feeling better soon. I was going to say walk but you already said you walk a lot, so that will help you. I think PPIs take a few days to start to work. Maybe try something warm to drink. I had hot tea throughout the day and that really helped me. Also maybe try sitting up as much as possible. I'm sure others will have some good suggestion. I hope you feel better soon, Janine

Thank you both for your responses. I took the prilosec and tums. I am doing a little better at getting the fluids in now but am still flush and 99 degrees. My discharge papers said to call if it is over 101. Anybody else have fever?

Yes, My temp was 99 for a few days after surgery and I felt the same way you do now. I started to feel better in about 5 days. My doctor gave me a prescription for acid that I have to take for 3 months. You are experiencing the worst now. It will get better. Hang in and congrats on your surgery.

The first days after surgery are the worst. It is so hard because you can't eat "real" food yet and your body is dealing with all of the changes. I PROMISE it will get better. You will be so amazed with what great things the sleeve is going to do for you! Even though it is hard now, just think of all of the cute clothes you will be buying soon and also be prepared for tons of compliments! What you are going through is normal and so worth the end result. I took my pain medicine and that really helped with the hot flashes and pain from any reflux I had. You will start to notice that each day you will feel better and better. I wish you the best!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
