So in the hospital i was told to drink the little 1 oz cup of Water every fifteen minutes, is this the same for at home? Or can I sip on as much as i can get in throughout the day because I think waiting every fifteen minutes there would be no way for me to get all 64 ounces down. Or to even keep track of all that time during the day.

If you aren't having any problems with 1 oz every 15 minutes, I think you're okay to sip all day long. But if it starts to come up or gets foamy, slow down.

I actually had to go to drinking a Dixie cup full of fluids every 15 minutes. I thought I'd be fine , when I went back to work I definitely wasn't even getting 10 oz in. The little cups every 15 minute helped to keep me on track.

Its a learning thy self process. I started the same and I was worked up to 4oz per hour. That was way too much for me. I frothe so much it was not pleasant. Now I sip at my own pace and when I begin to feel full i stop drinking. I can not sit all day watching the clock so i sip as little I want or as much my tummy will let me. And I now use the 16 oz bottle, Its easier for me to track my progress.

Just go slowly. Don't drink too much at once. Wait at least 5 min between drinking anymore.

Thanks so much for all the great replies. I'm going to try the 16 oz bottle and wait 5 min minimum.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
