hot nana 0 Posted July 18, 2006 I was banded in mexico on may 19th by DR. DE la Garza in monterey.I am 58 years old. I am a mother of 4 and a grandmother of 7. I have lost 27 lbs. I have had no problems and I consider it the best thing I have ever done for myself. I have not had a fill. I think I need one, but i'm not sure if I need to go back to mexico to have this done. I live in albany, ga and I would like to find a DR. a little closer.:clap2:

Cheri 0 Posted July 18, 2006 Hi, hottie! First of all, CONGRATS!! Keeping a positive mindset is the best key to success, and you truly seem to have that going for you!! As for the fills, I am not sure where Albany is, but I am sure there are docs in Atlanta (I believe there are clinics in Decatur? and Marietta?) I know there are docs in Birmingham, AL if you would want to drive that far!!! Good luck, you'll find a "filler" in no time with a little research!! Congrats! ~cheri
hot nana 0 Posted July 19, 2006 Thanks for the reply. Albany is about 150 miles from Atlanta, that's not to far. Have you had a fill yet? Was it painful? How much weight have you lost? Do you eat much? Just want to talk to someone that's in the same place I am. I love being banded , it's the best thing I've ever done for myself. Looking forward to hearing from you. Cheri 0 Posted July 20, 2006 I was banded 12/5/05. I've lost around 50 lbs, give or take depending on the day, hour, etc!!! I've had 4 fills so far, small increments to keep from overfilling. I don't think it's painful, I get the numbing shot so it seems just a bit uncomfortable, but not painful... Lately, I have been at a brick wall...the same seven pounds off and on, off and on. You will hit plateaus like you did if you dieted before the band. The good thing is that you have this wonderful tool to help you conquer those plateaus!!! I eat a fraction of what I did before, but some days are still a battle from sun up til late into the night!! Right now, my biggest nemesis is liquid calories - milkshakes and sugary drinks (I can't turn away from homemade lemonade!!) I am trying very hard to overcome them...so it's one moment at a time for me!! Let me know how it goes! ~cheri
hot nana 0 Posted July 20, 2006 Hi Cheri, I have days when I stay so hungry and others days I could eat nothing. I try to drink a lot of Water. I drink a lot of crystal light lemonade. I buy the little packs you just pour in a bottle of water. It's taste really good. I also eat Italion ice, ice cream, I get it at Walmart it takes the place of ice cream. I don't eat much meat or bread because it just does not want to go down. I eat a lot of veggies and salads. I've dieted all my life, and never had much luck. I'm so thankful I found out about lapband. I can't believe how much better I feel just losing 29 lbs. My feet and legs don't hurt near as bad as they used to. Do you walk or do exercise, I try to, but it's hard to do it every day because it's so hot. Keep trying and God bless.
Cheri 0 Posted July 22, 2006 Hey! I try to exercise (with 3 little ones, I am always up and about, but it's not good sustained exercise), but I need to get into a routine as I'm starting to see saggy skin. Are getting in your daily Protein requirements? Please please please make sure you get enough Protein daily. If meat is a problem for you, get some powder protein (I use powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury unflavored). I mix mine in with a strawberry carb control yogurt smoothie and some skim milk each morning - yummy (did I mention that is has about 30 grams of protein??) take care! ~cheri
