Three days out and scared

Recommended Posts

I had my sleeve ( actually a revision from a band) three days ago. I feel fine but am scared that I may have made a huge mistake. I have battled obesity my entire life. I had fair results with the band, but if I wasn't getting stuck, it wasn;t working.

I don't know if I am scared that this will work or scared that it won't.

What ever your fears are, just let them go and take advantage of this wonderful tool you've been fortunate enough to get. I think we're all scared in the beginning, but most will tell you that this is the best decision we've ever made. Just take one day at a time.

Hang in there, it will get better, based on what I've read on these boards. I haven't had my surgery yet, but the way you're feeling is normal! Good luck!

I agree, I think those feelings are normal, especially in the first week. I am 3 weeks out and by week 2, those feelings were gone and now I am feeling much better about everything. Hand in there, it will get better!

I was scared too. You made a permanent change to your body- it's normal to feel this way. "Buyer's remorse" is common. I felt it for the first few weeks.

What helped me is reading the success stories. We had the sleeve done for many reasons- so focus on those. There's no turning back, but we can go forward and conquer our obesity :)

Thank you for your support- I think you hit the nail on the head- there is no turning back and I think that is what scares me. I will try to be focused on the positive results that I will soon be seeing...Thank you and good luck to you....

Thank you---It is reassuring to know that what I am feeling is "normal" and will pass. Good Luck to you in your journey too.

Thank you for your encouragement. I will try to embrace this new body I am creating for myself- change is never easy. It is comforting to know that so many others have gone through the same thing. Good Luck to you...

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
