PhatGurl80 26 Posted September 22, 2011 Today is my first day on a full liquids diet -- Creamy Soups, Protein Shakes, yogurt... -- And I was SO excited to be able to eat some NORMAL food. This morning I mixed a fruit smoothie and found that it was waaaaaay too bitter.. Was it the Straweberries? banana? Or is this my tastebuds "changing" as I've see so many others post on this forum? But anyway, I got a whole 16 oz smoothie down in about two hours. No prob, bob. So, now it's lunch time and I wen to Whole foods for a tase of delicious Lobster Bisque...Mmmmmm.... My mouth watered all the way back to the office. I started eating and ....UH OH! 10 teaspoons and i'm already FULL????? Are you kidding me? So, I slid the bowl back away from me like babies do (they obiously know something we don't), but i've been pouting ever since lol. The Soup was delicious, but I can't eat but a few spoonfuls. I guess this was the test to see if my Sleeve is actually working and I guess from this evidence i'm going to lean towards a "Yes". Good news is, i guess I have dinner tonight, and lunch & dinner tomorrow !
SKCUNNINGHAM 298 Posted September 22, 2011 What you are experiencing is normal. Your sleeve is working like is should. You will get multiple meals out of your "meals" now. If you push it and eat a bite or two (or spoon or two) too much, your sleeve will communicate its dispeasure to you. Welcome to the world of the sleeve! kellyw74 258 Posted September 22, 2011 I was amazed when I first experience my restriction. 3, yes, 3 bites of cream of chicken soup-thinned when I went to full liquids. I was so blown away that I could get full on so little. BUT, that is what we sign up for! Kelly
emily_0192010 168 Posted September 22, 2011 I'm curious, how far out from your surgery are you? I am only a couple day's post-op and i am technically on full liquids as well but I am terrified to try anything other than Water or broth. I am up to about 30 oz of liquid so far today, but i've slept a lot so that has limited my time. When did you make the switch from water and clears to full liquids? I was thinking of trying a think Protein Shake later just to get in some nutrients.
PhatGurl80 26 Posted September 23, 2011 Hi Emily, Today is day 8 post op for me. Did Clear Liquids for the first week (7 days) and just made the switch to full liquids this morning. I started off w/ a 16oz Protein Shake (w/ juice, not milk) and it went down pretty well. Then, I tried the Soup and it really didn't take much to ge full. I was at work so I didn't push my luck either. If your Doc says you're good to try full liquids, go ahead an try it. Best of luck to you! I'm curious, how far out from your surgery are you? NikiS 31 Posted October 6, 2011 It took 2 full weeks for me to get that full feeling. And yes, your tummy will definitely let you know when to push your plate or bowl away. And now, thanks to you... I'd really like some Lobster Bisque .
