HI

I had my first fill on a 10cc band 2.5cc.:biggrin1: I can eat a lot more than i expected is that normal fokes. I am a little worried bit of a hypocondrac. I am able to eat a small preprepared fish pie which consisted of fish in sauce and mash potatoes on top. I am also slipping of the band wagon with the snacky stuff :pop2: :opps2: HELP :D

I have a 9.75 cm band with 4cc max. I went to get a fill on Monday 8/21 and my doctor didn't want to give me a fill. I have lost 18 lbs since surgery on 7/11. I feel like I can eat anything, don't feel much restriction. My doc would only give me .5 cc in my band, he said I am losing fine. I disagree with him and want more restriction. I don't go back to see him until 10/17/06. Will restriction come or do you feel it right away? I was able to drink Water with no problem after the fill.

I have a 10cc band and after my 3rd fill yesterday I am at 7cc. I feel like I have some restriction but I don't think I'm at my maximum restriction level yet. I probably will go in two weeks for another fill to see if this one will get me to my maximum. It may only take 1 or .5 more, its hard to tell. I ate a lean cuisine for dinner last night, I was kinda full but felt like I could have eaten more.

I'm in the 11cm, 10cc VG band and I have 8.5cc in. I can eat all the dense Protein I want and if I didn't weigh and measure every bite I ate I'd be back to my pre-surgery size. I need another fill.

Popped my cherry! (Do people still say that?)

Got my first fill yesterday at 18 weeks postop. 1.5cc in the VG band.

QUESTION: this is new to me, I've never PB'd.

How long does it take to feel pain from something you ate that doesn't sit right? I did fine on liquids and mushes. Then 8 hrs after fill I ate some softend blueberries with cottage cheese. About 45 minutes later I had a LOT of pain in my chest, at the bottom of my breast plate. It lasted about 20 minutes with pain in my left shoulder (like gas). I thought I was having a heart attack. I burped and burped and it finally went away. Can you get pain so LONG after you eat something?

Getting used to this restriction may take some patience for me. Being very careful today.

Today I got my 2nd fill my 1st fill i got 3cc and today i got another 5cc i wanted a bit more but the doctor said no go.. but i tried cause right now i can eat about anything with no problems so i wanted at least 6cc she told me to wait 2 weeks then come back. So if after this week if i still feel i can eat to much i am going to call them and go back for 1cc since thats what she told me i could do. I was banned on Sept 1st and so far i have lost 45 pounds so it's workin just need to keep up the fills so that way i dont gain back i just keep droping. So i hope this 5cc along with the 3cc that where already in there will put MORE Restictions on me..

Sometimes, I am simply amazed at the number of pounds some of you have lost in a brief amount of time. I was banded June 20th, and have hovered around the 40 pounds off mark for over a month now. I'm not happy with that, and probably need a fill - but if I eat a little too much now, I still throw it up - so I think I'm still restricted.

Maybe I'm not. I don't think I really know anymore. While I try to only eat Protein, and still drink Protein, the numbers don't move. It's frustrating because I do walk every day 3 times, for 40 minutes. I guess I need to add more Water - but I drink 60 oz now.

I don't know what I'm doing anymore. :success1:

The doctor told me that everyone is different. I couldn't even feel a change after the swelling of surgery went down. 5 months later I'm up to 2.5 cc's and while it's a comfy fight, it's not tight. I'm a little limited, but I know I have to chew. :success1:

randi, I'm in your shoes right now as well. I had surgery in July and have hovered around the 50 lb mark for awhile. I even gained weight after my surgery.:) You're doing everything as you should, so keep it up! :clap2: You may need a fill, I'm not sure. One thing that I was told by my doctor was when I exercise, if I've hit a plateau, switch up the way that I exercise. What's worked for me is adding light weights. I'm starting to lose again, even if it's just a little very slowly. Using weights builds a little bit of muscle which burns fat longer than just aerobic exercise. Maybe walk twice a day and try light weight the third time?

Don't give up! :clap2: I know it's frustrating, but there are others in your shoes (like me). Let me know how you're doing!

503-250,

I have a 10cc VG Band as well and I was banded on 6-23-05. As of today I have 8.5 cc's in mine and I just had .50 cc's added a week ago to make me the 8.5 cc's. I am now restricted much more than i was at 7 or even at 8. I feel great with this amount right now. But my fills usually last for 2 months then I'm asking for another one as I start eating bigger portions again or i'm hungry more often. I just wonder once we hit 9 or 9.5 cc's and we have lost all the weight we are going to loose, meaning the body stops losing the weight once you weigh what your suppose to weigh, what is the next step if your eating a bigger portion than what you should be?

Rule of thumb that apparently isn't the rule with some surgeons.

After a fill, liquids for two days, mushy foods for two days and on day 5 begin solid foods. Your stoma and esophogus gets swollen from any fill and in order not to "hurt" your band you need to give it a chance to get back to normal. Even if you can get Water down at the time of the fill, you could still be too tight.

Another Rule: If you PB, go on liquids for at least 24 hours and not resume the meal that you were eating prior to the PB. This also gives that stoma and esophogus a chance to unswell from the PB.

These are rules that my surgeon's office and Inamed really want hammered into our heads. :(

You really have to take good care of your band. It needs lots of TLC. We have a very high maintenance WLS and need to learn to live with the little implant for a very long time.

I have a 10cm band and I have 2.5cc's in it right now. It seems to be a perfect amount for me! Some days I can eat more than others and some days I can eat things I couldn't the day before. Strange how that happens. I had this fill back on 1 Oct 07 and I've lost 32lbs since then. It's slow but that's the way to go I'm told!

Good luck to all!

My husband, banded in October 2007 also, has 7 cc. in his 10 cc band, and has some restriction but not much. He can still eat an entire restaurant meal with no problem. I was banded the same day and have 1.9 in my 4 cc band, and he can easily eat 3 or 4 times as much as I can.

I went last Friday for another fill, that makes me at around 5 cc. Currently I feel like I don't have the restriction that I want or need.

I DID have good restriction for a couple of months at 6.5 cc, but it didn't last. I went back and got bumped up to 7.3 cc and the difference is HUGE. It seems to be perfect to me.

According to the Dr's, its different for everyone. So its very difficult to find that sweet spot for us. It takes time and alot of patience!

I was banded in May of 06, had my first fill at 4.5 cc's. Nothing, then 6.5 cc's. Nothing. Then I went in again to get alittle more and apparently the Dr. didn't remove all the liquid and over filled me! NOT FUN! I couldn't swallow my saliva without pbing. I lost 9 pds in 2 days. I went back in and they removed everything. Back to square one and this was over the holidays. Talk about depressing? :) So after 6 weeks of nothing I only gained back 4 pds so I wasn't too upset. Started back at 5. cc's, then 6.8, etc. I am currently at 8.6 and I feel restriction most of the time. Mostly in the mornings until mid-afternoon. Last month I went in for alittle more Fluid and the Dr. said as long as I was losing he wasn't going to put any more in right now.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
