carol134 0 Posted July 18, 2006 Does anyone out there know anything about band slippage? How do you know it has happened? Please let me know.
Alexandra 55 Posted July 18, 2006 Hi Carol, The only definitive way to diagnose a band slip is through medical testing. The symptoms may include significant difficulty eating or even drinking; the slip creates a larger pouch where food may sit and not go down, which can cause reflux or heartburn or vomiting. Slips can happen slowly over time (possibly due to chronic pouch-packing) or quickly (possibly due to violent vomiting or coughing). But there are many other things that could cause symptoms that people think are indicative of slips that turn out not to be. So the important thing is to talk with your doctor if you think something is going on that shouldn't be.
Anaed2 0 Posted July 18, 2006 Slips can happen slowly over time (possibly due to chronic pouch-packing) or quickly (possibly due to violent vomiting or coughing). Can anyone tell me what volume of food the small pouch is able to hold? I don't eat large portions in comparison to what I ate pre-banding (or even in comparison to any normal-sized person), but I'm still always nervous that I may be packing in too much. I eat 3 meals a day, no Snacks, Water in-between meals and not during. Typical quantity would be roughly 1-2 cups, about what would fill a bread plate (small side plate) without heaping high and over-flowing. If I were to gage by when I feel full, I actually feel full before I even begin eating (I was filled with 1 cc in a 4 cc band at time of surgery), and only eat because I would like to and because I think I should (otherwise I wouldn't be getting nearly enough calories in the day). What are standard recommendations on quantities?
blj5362 0 Posted July 18, 2006 After sliming and being stuck (i think) is it normal the next day to still have some discomfort?
