September Band Crew!

Recommended Posts

I WAS an August bander, but it was pushed to the 30th, which is a busy time for me at work, so I just pushed it further ahead to September 20th. Anyone else getting banded in September? :D

Wow this is great! :clap2: Hi you guys!!!

I am taking some time off in August to go operation shopping - getting a heating pad, liquid Vitamins, etc., using the pre and post-op lists on the boards.

I wish you the best and look forward to talking more as the day comes closer!:huggie:

Hey James! I didn't see your thread! :(

Sherry, I need to look at my information and see when liquids start. I think I'm in denial about it.:straight

I have to start my liquid diet 7-10 days before surgery....I think that I am going with 7 days of torture instead of 10. I had to start doing Atkins on Monday July, 31st. I was told that I need to lose as much weight as possible before surgery. I've already lost 7 pounds in 5 days...I am sure it is all WATER...either way I am happy that the scale is going down!! My goal is to lose at least 30 pounds by Sept. 20th :becky: I'll keep you all posted!

Lapoli

I am not being banded until Sept 11th, but just did a week of my pre-op diet to "see if I would make it", and actually I did just fine! Here is my menu from my nutritionist:

730am: sugar free Carn Instant Breakfast and 8oz 1% milk, piece of fruit

1030am: CIB

1230: Healthy Choice Vegetable Soup

330pm: CIB

630pm: 2 CIB and piece of fruit

830pm: sugar free Jello snack

Multivitamin and Calcium every day, and 2-3 oz chicken breast two to three times per week.

THe hardest part as always was the 'mental' side of it. Now I am using parts of that diet and just adding in a salad or a reasonable dinner meal, and will go back to that completely on Aug 30th (the day I get back from a two week vacation!).

Sherry

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
