GROWLNG HUNGAR PANGS

Recommended Posts

I'm three months out. Doing well with Vitamins, shakes etc. I eat whatever I want but I can only have a few bites then I'm full. Only complaint is that majority of food does not taste very good; not enjoyable like pre-op. Also I am regularly having major hungar pangs. Very disappointing when supposedly the hungar harmone producing part of the stomach was removed. My nurse says I need to eat more Protein to help with the hungar pangs and that eventually the hungar pangs will go away and my taste buds will return to normal like at six months. I've lost 50 pounds so far. I have at least a 100 pounds to go to get to goal weight of 150. I still look fat so no one has noticed the weightloss as of yet. My clothes are getting looser and I'm about ready to go back into my smaller sizes that I used to wear. I'm just looking forward to a more noticeable size appearance in the coming months. Is anyone out past six months that had the taste bud issue and constant nagging growling hungar pangs? If so, how are you doing now? Right now I feel this is a cruel joke to make such a sacrifice only to find myself hungriar than ever and being hungry within 20-30 mins after eating. Really hoping this issue is short term.

I am 5 days post and have been struggling with the hunger pangs. It seems as if when I eat (drink), i get hungry. This is not good. i have emailed my dr. this morning and am waiting for a response. I do want to tell you while I was in the hospital I told him I was hungry and why is that when you supposedly removed the portion of the stomach that has the hunger hormones, etc. He told me that that is only try for 50% of the patients, that the other 50% will still experience hunger pangs. He told me that if I would have asked he would have told me that, I didn't think I had to ask when he had just told me he would be cutting out that portion of the stomach, so I assumed that it would be the same for all patients. He told me then that it should subside, but to me it is getting worse. Well, have a great day!

I didn't start having the constant hunger pangs until a few weeks after surgery....about the time when I started eating solid food. I hear yah on being frustrated with the doc's response. If I didn't have the hungar pangs I would be so much happier and less stressed.....it's just driving me nuts.

I am so sorry to hear that. Did you report this to your dr? If so what did doc say? How long post surgery did you begin getting the pains?

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
