I swear I am not crazy

Recommended Posts

So, not only am I not able to stand up because I am instantly lightheaded and dizzy, but now my skin hurts. My whole body hurts like it is covered in a giant bruise!!!!!!!!! My calves, my thighs, my arms, my butt, everything, Ironically, I have zero pain in my incisions or my surgery site, I can even sleep on my tummy.

I understand that the first few weeks are hard, but I seriously cannot live like this. I have three kids under 8, my house is gone to hell and I had to beg someone to drive my kids to school this morning because I can't even walk to the bathroom, let alone drive them to school.

To answer anyone's questions, I am one week post op, I am drinking one Protein Shake per day and approximately 50 to 55 oz of liquids.

I searched the boards for someone else having skin pain, but alas nothing. However, I swear I am not crazy! It is like I am one giant bruise and anything that touches my body hurts like hell.

The lightheadedness and the pain are most likely two different issues. If you are not getting enough liquids in, then that could cause low blood pressure which would cause lighheadedness. The skin pain sounds like nerve issues. Some people get 'extreme skin sensitivity' after surgeries. The nerves get turned on even away from the surgery site. Anti-inflammatory meds would help, but I don't know if you should be taking them yet. Ask your surgeon. This nerve pain can be bad and may be slow to calm down. Good luck. Do contact your doctor, but don't expect too much. some people are just much more sensitive than others when their nerves are cut.

I had those feelings once when I had a bug. I had a virus or something and everything hurt....even my skin. When I showered it was like I had a sunburn. I would still contact your doc....might be something they need to know. Feel better!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
