"exit:" incision problems?

Recommended Posts

so all in all im doing great, im getting 100 grams of Protein ( im 6.3) in no problem, along with my fluids, envying the pain killers while they last but i have a question that is concerning me

on my lower left side, one of the port holes that was used to extract my giant old stomach sack had a very large swollen contusion area. its very painful, its a large lump protruding out. now i was told that they had to actually "pry" open that area to get out my stomach...

has anyone else had a issue like this, im actually slightly concerned its actually a hernia and its my intestines poking into that area. the swelling comes and goes and it is for sure the post painful area i have.

any thoughts guys?

i saw him today actually, he placed his hands on it and check it, its just swelling from a hemotoma from when they had to force the opening up larger by prying on it some, it will reduce in size, but the reason why its bothering me so much is because it was forced open by hand and not cut...kinda wish they would have just opened it a bit more with a scapel or something

i really have nothing to complain about, i have been running around all day out the house, ive already consumed 94 grams of protein! all from my shakes, now i can just pick and choose what to enjoy for the evening. its been so smooth.. i took a bunch of...items ;) last night and slept a good 10 hours.. woke u, was able to get out of bed on my own, and i am just now getting sore... 4 days post op, it was NOT a smart thing to do ( but i was pain med free) but i even felt well enough to do some driving and pick up a few things, go to the post office.

if anyone is wondering if they should sleeve or not, don't worry, if you can have this kind of recovery and be outside running around 4 days out of the hospital,

i was a type 2 diabetic before the operation...on metformin,, blood sugar was running between 177 and 210..

i can report 4 days post op it has been between 130 and 107! im off all diabetes meds, my bp was 130/86 a little while ago...no bp meds today either!. i check it again tonight, maybe they are gone too!

thanks for the love guys, your hear for me, and im hear for everyone else. :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
