Ter72 3 Posted September 18, 2011 I am so excited to be getting rid of the band and having it replaced with the sleeve. Surgery date is 9/20/2011. Would love to hear from anyone who will be sharing the same date!
panda 14 Posted September 25, 2011 Aww man I didn't even notice this! I was sleeved on the 20th! How is it going??? Yesterday (day 4) was a little rough was concentrating too much on Protein and ending up with a swollen sleeve and feeling totally bloated, today I'm taking the veteran's advice and not stressing, trying to concentrate on liquids and RELAX. Day 5 smooth sailing!

Ter72 3 Posted September 25, 2011 Things are going pretty well. I know what you mean about the Protein. I feel so limited with what we are allowed to eat (drink) and feel very malnourished. At times I think I dehydrate myself and then feel weak, tired and light-headed. I'm pleased that there isn't much pain involved and I'm looking forward to just feeling like my old self again. Just curious, are you allowed Clear Liquids only, or are you allowed fuels with Soups and pudding.? Ps congrats on your sleeve!
panda 14 Posted September 26, 2011 Congrats to you too! Yeah I'm on full liquids my doc moved me to them 2nd day in hosp to see if i wouldn't throw it up... still did lol but now im fine with them just can't get a lot in, most i've had is on on my 5th day (today) 1/4 cup of Tomato Soup. before i could only get down 1/8 cup. How about you? And with fluids today i've gotten down almost a full water bottle (16 ounces) seems still like so little. hopefully soon enough i'll be able to drink more then one oz every 15 min. Geeewhy 30 Posted September 26, 2011 Hey! I'm a little late, but I was a 9/20'er. Doing great, though a bit lethargic from the calorie deficit. Glad to see you two are doing well.

Ter72 3 Posted September 26, 2011 Welcome to the 9/20 Sleeve Section! The lethergy for me has seemed to subside a little today. I added fat free cream Soup as well as lowfat yogurt. I've also tried to get the majority of Protein in......seems to help. In all honesty, I'm a tad bid concerned. You guys are having difficulty with intake cuz you are so full. But if I have chicken broth, I'm able to sip down 4oz without any problems. I can also do the same with half cup of Jello or yogurt. I can easily get it down in ten minutes. panda 14 Posted September 26, 2011 Wow Ter72 i wish! My doc did say he made mine super tight cause of being young, and not having to take a lot of meds I dunno i wish i could just get enough water!
Ter72 3 Posted September 26, 2011 Awwww, Panda! After reading all the posts, it appears life will get better for both of us. Maybe mine isn't super tight. Or maybe the fluids just go right thru me and therefore doesn't have a chance to fill me up much. Fyi......I found these shakes at MeijerMs called Pure Protein. If you drink two 11oz shakes a day you can easily get your 70g protein in. The flavors are chocolate and strawberry. Pretty tasty. 35g protein per 11oz can. If you don't have a Meijer by you, just google, Pure Protein!
panda 14 Posted September 26, 2011 Thanks for your support! I tried something totally off the wall today I blended up my Protein powered with the cup of skim milk and got it all creamy then put it in the freezer and i actually got 1/4 cup down! It was like ice cream lol so three more servings and i got 61grams!! *crosses fingers* I hope i can get it down as easily again took my full alloted 20 min but not giving up! Do you know if that could stretch my sleeve? with ice cream being a slider food i'm guessing that's how i got more then usual down... Oh yah and no Meijer by me just kings and safeway is that one of them in a diff name?
Geeewhy 30 Posted September 27, 2011 Hey! No issue with getting my liquids in, though the most Protein I've been able to get is around 55g. I plan on going to full liquids tomorrow, so I'm hoping to raise that a good bit. I will definitely check out Pure Protein... thanks for the tip!
Geeewhy 30 Posted September 27, 2011 I've had no problems getting down a full bowl (8oz) of broth since the day after surgery. At first I was a little worried that it was so easy, that something was wrong, but I was that it's not that unusual. Sorry to hear y'all are having issues getting enough Fluid.< /p>
