I'm three weeks out and have been using lots of this brand as it's an easy way to get my Protein in. My staples are the hot chocolate and oatmeal but I'm supplementing with either Inspire protein supplements or Synthrax nectar drinks.< /p>

I'm not eating much "real" food (pureed) as it's so much easier to use the pre packaged (easy to eat, high protein)

Curious whether anyone else is taking this approach.

Over the last week, I've been able to get my calories up to 400-500 with protein averaging between 75-85 and carbs no higher than 25..

My weight loss is a little concerning, my first week I lost 9 lbs but the next two only resulted in a 3 pound loss.

Comments or thoughts welcome :)

I did, it was several months before I felt like eating much. I got a little nauseaus or full so fast it wasn't pleasant. So I kept working with shakes and softer foods. I also ordered quite a few things from one of the bariatric Protein sites which I still eat - sloppy joe mix, Protein Cereal, pudding. Nice small servings with protein that really satisfied me. I'm about 15 months out now and can eat quite a bit more. I'm below my goal weight by quite a bit but have decided to lose a little more to make my upcoming plastic surgery a little easier (less Lipo I hope).

Your slowdown is normal. At first it comes in big bursts and then nothing off and on over 4-6 week cycles. Eventually I just steadily lost 2-3 pounds a week until my body decided it was done at 137 pounds where I've been for about 6 months. Don't worry about the stalls. Your body is working it all out. Sometimes you'll even shrink in size even though the scale doesn't head downward.

You should probably up your calories to the 800ish range. It's hard to keep your skin and hair healthy and your weightloss really isn't any faster at the 500 calorie mark. But it was a month or so before I could get mine up there.

You're doing great!

Britt

brittu - Thank you!

I love the convenience and taste of the pre packaged foods, perfect for travel which I do for my job weekly.

Our starting and goal weights are almost identical(231/140) so your results are encouraging ;)

I'm a little frustrated because I was losing more consistently with more calories during my 9 week Medifast/lean and green preop diet than I have the last three weeks post sleeve)

Plastic surgery - ahh, the next phase. Good luck (can't wait until I'm there...)

I just bought some Protein Soups (bariwise) and oatmeal, which I hadn't tried before. I liked the cream of mushroom Soup, but the cream of broccoli Soup seemed too watery to me. I think it would be better if it were mixed into normal cream of broccoli soup.

Today, I tried the oatmeal. I didn't like the texture at first (too runny). I added a third of a packet of sugar free instant oatmeal, and it was much better. I put the rest of the packet in a Ziploc bag and will store with the BariWise oatmeal.

I love the Bariwise Fruit drinks. I use a shaker cup to mix them up. The lid also cuts down on the smell.

I have found that I need to carry sugarfree mints or hard candy with me since the Protein tends to give me bad breath, and I don't like having protein breath at work. :)

I've also made a lot of smoothies. I use one of the sugar free carnation instant breakfasts and add milk, greek yogurt (plain) and about 3-5 strawberries. I also add a scoop of Protein powder. It makes a very filling Breakfast that is very high in protein.

I'm going to have to order some of the Soups now that it looks like summer is officially over :(

The hot chocolate is my absolute favorite, tastes great, portable and Protein - what more could a girl ask for!

I used and still have some of the pantry selections. I love them. The cream of chicken Soup is wonderful. And I love the hot chocolate too, very creamy....and has Protein too.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
