kalyssa8392 2 Posted September 17, 2011 Okay so I am starting to really worry about the surgery part of this joirney! I've never been in the hospital, never had surgery, and never been put under anesthesia! These are all things I am worrying about right now! Also the pain after the hospital! How long before you feel back to normal?! Any advice is greatly welcomed! <
KellyL 173 Posted September 17, 2011 :welcome: It is natural to have some anxiety going into any surgery. I had a very easy recovery and never experienced a lot of pain post op. A little gas discomfort until they gave me meds for it. Felt a little like I had done a lot of situps until they removed the drain. And don't let that freak you out, because the drain removal doesn't hurt either, or for me it didn't. My dr did it so quick I don't believe I had time to even feel anything. But I was able to walk and get around very easily and had no problems or complications. I have seen others with easy recoveries and some had a little rougher of a time, because we are all different, and I believe the skills and experience of the Surgeon does make a difference, but you will do great I am sure and they are usually really good at managing any post op issues you may have. Do you have a Surgeon and surgery date? Good luck and keep us updated!!

Driver Deb 10 Posted September 17, 2011 I am pre op also, but I have heard that the more you work out before surgery the easier the recovery. Get that heart and lungs working good before surgery and you will be up walking around just hours after.
