I'm so tired lately...why?

Recommended Posts

Monday I will be 10 weeks out from my surgery. This past week I've been so tired and fatigue feeling. Anyone else been like this?

I get plenty of Protein and Water, eating well, no problems there. Wondering if I could be low on Iron or something. Any ideas?

I am 9 weeks out and feeling tired and weak all day. I was told to start a B12 Vitamin. I also think part of the reason is the weight loss itself. My body is working hard to shed the extra weight and that makes me tired. Would love to hear how others deal with daily fatigue at about 2 months.

I already take a B-12 and all my Vitamins, except for Iron. My multi doesn't have iron. Maybe someone thats been through this will come along soon.

Two things were making me tired at about the period you are:

1) I needed to back off on BP meds - my BP was running about 90 / 55. I went to the doc and got to cut the meds in half.

2) I was anemic and had to start supplementing Iron.

You probably need to go to your doc and get checked out.

Are you getting your labs done soon? I don't know how it is for most practices but my doc wants us to have labs at 12 weeks. You should so you will know if your Iron or something is low. Good luck!!

Your labs will tell you a lot, but my insurance company assigned me an RN to call with questions and she checks in on me once a month, and I'm at about the same number of weeks out as you and have also been soooo fatigued in the last week or two. She told me to eat more complex carbs. I had been trying to eat 40 or less carbs per day and she said that's not enough. She said to add in oatmeal, Beans, vegetables and fruit without sugar added. COMPLEX is the key word here. So I added in the Beans and oatmeal the last two days and already feel a lot better. I just hope I continue to lose weight. She swears I will. She might be right because now I feel like exercising.... If you are still menstruating you might need Iron too but labs will tell. And go to bed earlier. Since surgery I go to bed an hour earlier than I used to.

Feel better :)

Actually I have an appt to see my ob/gyn on Friday. I checked with my surgeons office on what labs I would need done. So the emailed me the list to take to my doc on Friday. I'll get my labs done then and have faxed to my surgeons office. I need my yearly bloodwork done anyway for my ob/gyn, since I'm post menopause. I did buy some Iron, but wondering if I should take it yet, or wait until after my labs are done.

Now the carb thing makes sense. I've really cut back on those as well. I might try this this week and see if that helps.

Thanks ladies.

I will be a year out in November and I had the same problem. I had every lab known to man drawn. All OK.....so my surgeon told me to increase my B12 and that helped me out. If I don't keep up on it my body seems to feel it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
