How much does excess skin weigh?

I dont' know if there is any sort of calculation. I went to a seminar at my WLS surgeon's office about plastic surgery after massive weightloss. I did ask the surgeon what the average weight is of the skin removed when he does a lower body lift. He said it is about 10 pounds, though he has removed ask much as 60 pounds. When they take off the loose skin, they take off the extra fat sitting there too.

Skin weighs about 1/3 lb per square foot.

Most people have 20 - 22 sq. ft of skin, or about 6 lbs.

Great question! I've been wondering the same thing lately. I weigh about the same as I did 20+ years ago, but I think I'm actually smaller because of the excess skin, and I know I didn't have all this skin back then LOL.

So that would make it about 6-8 lbs excess. Keeps things in perspective I think.

I'm very interested in this question. My big hope is that I once I've lost 250 pounds, the last 50 pounds will come from my skin removal!! (Bit optimistic I know).

My wife lost about 210 from her DS, and had another 14 removed with the lower body lift and didn't get a figur for the thigh lift.
