Dr. David Hall in Wylie, TX

Recommended Posts

Has anyone used or heard of Dr. Hall in Wylie? My sister went to one his seminars on Thursday. She is wanting the band badly but he and his staff kept pushing gastic bypass. He says that he will do Lapband but would not recommend it. What a bunch of bull! I don't feel comfrtable with my sister using him, but she feels confident. Just wanted to see what anyone else thought of him. Unfortunately, he is the only one in this area on her insurance.

I would suggest going to a hospital that has a better education program. I work in the dfw area with lap bands and also have one myself. I have seen complications from wylie due to lack of education. it would be worth a drive to find a better program.

I hope your sister can find a doc that suits her. There are a LOT of good ones in Texas that do both surgeries and don't run one procedure down over the other. I would tell her to do some more shopping around, even if it means looking at other financing options. Don't get in too big of a rush and then be really disappointed with the surgery and/or after care.

Terry

I am very familiar with the Wylie area and have never heard of Dr. Hall. Also, if she is looking at doing it there in Wylie, I know they had a death related to this procedure. That hospital has opened/closed many times over the years, each time under a different bariatric treatment name.

There are too many good doctors within easy driving distance from Wylie for her to settle for an outmoded surgery at a questionable clinic.

The Surgical Center of Richardson (just off No. Central on Belt Line) is not far from Wylie at all and Dr. Benevides there is one of the most experienced and successful in the country.

My insurance company (BCBS) would not approve several of the clinics in that area. Has she checked with her carrier to see who they will approve?

Who is her carrier??

Personally I wouldn't go through with him if he already has such a negative approach to the band.

Dr. Barker, Dr. Powell, or Dr. Benavides are the 3 I recommend the most to our patients. :(

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
