3 weeks out and I have ran outof ideas!!!

Recommended Posts

I am officially on week 3 of my"pureed phase" and I have ran out of ideas! Help please! Even though I have not really pureed my food recently because it just makes me gag! I know my tummy is still fragile but I have been eating mostly eggs, tilapia, and oatmeal chewing it really well, and have ran outof ideas! Most of my food is going down ok but still kinda get sick when I eat too fast or sip something while eating (which I impose its a no no, but its a hard thing for me) Help please! :(

I would take a scoop of ff refried Beans, put some salsa on it and sprinkle some cheese on it and bake it or nuke it until bubbly. I'd add some spices to it and top with a dollop of greek yogurt. It was sooooooo good. I'd also do this with some leftover chicken. I'd spice it up add some salsa and toss it in the magic bullet, top it with cheese and cook til bubbly.

tuna melt minus the bread. Warm it up with some pureed Tomato and cheese - so good.

Pot roast and gravy.

Eggplant parmesan. I made it for hte family and tossed some in the magic bullet with some extra parmesan cheese for Protein. THAT one was flipping delicious and hit the spot, though not as high in Protein.< /p>

I made the family Pasta with meat sauce and just ate the meat sauce with some extra cheese in it. I pureed it and it was so yummy.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
