Any Heel Spur Problems?

Recommended Posts

BIRKENSTOCKS!!!! I had trouble with heel spurs and plantar facitis for YEARS. My massage therapist recommended them. You will hate them for the first 2 weeks, but if you keep wearing them every day, all day for 2 weeks you will feel an amazing difference.

Even though ebay and some other sites have good deals, you need to find a Birkenstock store near you and be measured for the correct fit. Then once you know the size you can order elsewhere.

They are worth every penny you spend on them. Helps with back problems too! Like I said wear them all the time for 2 weeks...you will hate them...but keep at it. After wearing nothing but birks for about a year (and losing 60 lbs) I can wear more attractive shoes to work and other places, but I always wear my birks when I'm shopping or whenever I'm going to be walking or standing a lot.

They aren't cute, but your feet will be SOOOO HAPPY!!!!

All, thanks for the info! Hopefully when I report it to my Dr., they will include in letter to ins co and thus add ANOTHER reason to fully cover my surgery, showing another physical effect of me being overweight. Also, I was all worried about passing the psych eval and the administering Dr. reccommended me for surgery! Some of the questions were soooo off the wall! "Do you like to see small animals suffer?" What sicko would say yes....well, don't answer that one! I'm sure there's plenty of them out there!!!!

Well, ordered Birks from Sierra Trading Post Clearance section, they look comfortable, so I'll give them whirl. My chiropractor agreed that they really should help!

Hi , I was to have surgery on my heel today. I went for my bootcamp yesterday, and while I was at the Dr.s I mentioned it and he said wait. Because an infection would mean that he would have to postpone my lap-band. No way! And the meds I would have to take for the foot would cause bleeding during the lap- band. so we were both glad I said something! First thing first and he said that as I loose weight it may help it any way. hope so! Lap -band August 8th!!!!!

I'm a Birk fanatic and ordered all mine I believe from HSN (could have been QVC). I have beautiful birks...decorated and all....very stylish. I also love Clark shoes.....but than I'm a shoe addict. I have foot and knee problems and they definitely help. Patellas are a great shoe also, very much birkies.

I hear you with the no sandals. After my right foot surgery he told me never ever go barefooted or sandals. Well don't you know the week after surgery I ran out to the garage, it was raining, to push the button for it to go down and I was barefooted. I stepped on a pebble with my left heel that was already starting to bother me. Damn, how can I be so stupid. I wasted lots of time and money with all and I do mean all of the cortisone shots in my right heel. They started out helping for 2 months then got down to 2 weeks. I guess I will give this left heel a couple of more weeks then I will just have surgery. I don't want to waste a lot of time and money. My right heel is perfect, I mean it's been a year and absolutely NO pain from it. YOu can't even feel the spur but boy oh boy you can feel it in my left heel. Good luck everyone. I hope be banded might help to after a fill and start my weight loss up again.

Wear shoes like Grandma used to wear: A solid 1-1.5 in heel with arch support. I guarantee this. I sold shoes for many years. I had heel spurs for a long time before I tried this.:) No loafers! Noflipflops!

I had surgery on my left foot about 1 year preband, so about 2 years ago and have been 100% pain free since then. But, now my right foot is killing me, it was bad when I had the fiirst surgery but it wasn't bad enough to have surgery on. About 2 weeks ago it started hurting and it hurts all day. I have lost almost 75 pounds and I really hoped it would make it better. The foot doc said that even 100 pound people have these problems, it wasn't the weight causing the pain. I have a surgical consult on monday, I want it taken care of asap, I have a trip planned for the end of Sept/ beginning of Oct and really want to be able to do all the walking. Plus my dd starts school Aug 24th and I have to drive her there, so I need to BA able to use my foot. Wish me luck, I think I'm gonna need it. ~Mandy

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
