I started this process in June 2010..... the center I was going to turns out is in my insurance plan but the surgeon was not as he had been dropped a month before... so they were going through the process to be added and they said it would take 2 months at the most. I called back and found out that it was going to take 6 months plus 6 months of doctor supervised weight loss .... so I found another doctor and started the process there.... I was 2 months away from the 6 month mark and they combined with another practice but not to worry they were accepting more insurance plans... and then they found out mine was one of the ones that was being dropped. By chance I called the first place back and ..... the surgeons had been added back in so I started the process with them... They accepted all the stuff from the previous doctor so I only had to attend their diet and exercise class and see the doctor once and they submitted it!!!! And in two days it was approved and my surgery is October 4th. I am excited scared about it.

I know it will be the best thing I have ever done for me but now that I have a husband, step children and a daughter I am worried about the surgery itself.

So pre op with other doctor my weight was 261 on November 29th and now it is 244. I have high blood pressure, insulin dependent diabetes, and a host of other problems and plus I am tired all the time.... hard to keep up with a 3 1/2 year old.

I have everyone on board except for my employer but my co-workers are so excited. They are all saving their clothes for me so as I shrink I will have clothes to wear... Several are planning on visiting me in the hospital. They all want to walk with me at lunch... the crazy lady that walks with an umbrella so I don't get sunburned.... My husband is excited. My stepdaughters don't know about it and my daughter is worried about the hospital so we have stopped talking about it until it is closer.

My extended family is all excited about it. I feel the love and support.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
