You have lost 61.6 lbs in 6 months and that is awesome!! I hear losing slowly helps your skin stay tighter. That is sure a benefit of losing slow. I lost fast at first and now I feel like Jello.< /span>

I had surgery the day before you and I can admit my weight loss has come to what feels like a screeching halt! I have answers, but they are not fun ones. First, our metabolisms are freaking out. We cannot lose more the 20 pounds and expect our body not to freak out think it is going into starvation mode. Second, the less you weigh, the harder to have to work to burn the same amount of calories. This park sucks the most to me because I have my comfort zones and I convince myself that I am doing good because I am still doing "something", when in reality the intensity must be enhanced to keep producing desired results. And last, and the least fun reason, we are starting to eat more. And I can only speak for myself, but I know I am not as honest and true to my diet as I should be. Granted I am doing SO much better then ever before, but we have an optimal time frame to be loosing weight, so keeping yourself dedicated and focused is essential. I do not believe in lose weight the first year or you never will crap, but it will never be easier then it is today, either. I would go ahead and do the pouch test, it won't hurt and if you have not seen results after doing the test and sticking to your diet for at least a week after I would talk to your surgeon and nutritionist to see if there might be another reason why you are not loosing. Best of luck, I know this struggle is hard!!

I have been a slow loser all along as well. I would go 3 weeks nothing then 1 week of 7-10 lbs then 3-4 weeks of nothing. I am in 7 month and lost 57lbs. I have had a lot going on personally but I'm not sure I would have lost any more if I didn't have the family issues. However, it's 57lbs. I feel so much better. I can walk up stairs without having a heart attack. My son had surgery last week so I had to mow the yard for the first time in years and I was really dreading it because when he was younger and I was bigger I thought I would die half way through the yard. I used the weed eater after mowing and cut the shrubs. Hot but not exhausted and panting. So I know I have already saved years off my life and I'm just hoping that I hit close to 100lbs at my 1yr mark. It will come off it has to it's just holding on as long as it can. Slow down on how often you weight. You get depressed weighing everyday. If your following a high Protein low carb diet it will come off and then you will be happy if you wait a month and your down 10lbs. But, up 1lb down 1lb will drive you crazy.

I am 4 1/2 months out and a slow loser as well. If its coming off then thats a good thing! I have come to the realization that not everyone is going to lose at the same rate or with the same methods. What I have found that works for me to be consistant and lose at least a pound to two pounds a week (I am at the last stretch so that for me is phenominal lol) is I trick my body. On the weekends I allow myself to have a little more carbs and not to watch every little thing I put in my mouth. During the week I am strict and have a shake or bar for Breakfast, a salad with Protein for lunch, what ever protein and veg my hubby makes for dinner and then in the evening an Atkins snack of some sort. This seems to be working for me. I read somewhere that the body gets "used" to using up x amount of energy with what you have stored. So on the weekends it thinks that this would be the norm, and then during the week because I am limiting it again it keeps using that same energy on less calories. By the time it "knows" whats going on its the weekend again and am having more calories etc. Like I said this works for me and even though I endulge on the weekends, its still not so much that it would hinder me. Hope this helps.

I wish we all would lose fast but for some its just not the case. I do like when someone brings it up on the bored. I'm 10 months out and lost a total of 85 pounds. The last two months I lost 15 pounds. It sucks but slowly but surely my weight is going down. For me even with slow weight loss my skin is hanging, I hope it tightings up. I wouldn't do the pouch test either, if I feel I'm eating to much Snacks I just focus on eating all Protein. I still don't eat much anyways, maybe 850 calories with 60 carbs or less so I dont understand how I'm not losing faster.

It is true we need to see success in other ways besides how fast the scale is moving. Not being at of breath when walking, feeling better, looking better, and overall being more healthy. I know the first year they say we will lose the fastest but my doctor said weight loss continues for up to two years. Good luck and try to stay positive we will all get to goal, Janine : )

I feel like I'm on that slow moving train also. I had surgery 8/17 and I've lost 14-16 lbs depending on the day. I hope I can say I've lost a solid 20lbs when my 1 months surgiversary comes along but it's only 4 days away so we shall see. I'm NOT getting on the scale again until the 17th. I'm trying not to be discouraged because I guess I'm technically still a "newbie" but it's pretty difficult for me not to be nervous and think this isn't going to work for me. :(

My surgeon told me to wait 2 more weeks before I hit the gym. I really hope that the kickboxing and zumba and strength training will help. PreOp when I'd work out and eat better and I'd always get the "have you lost weight" questions ...but the scale wouldn't move an lb. For some strange reason my body LOOOOVES to hold on to excess weight. <sigh>

Ditto.

The only time it bothers me is when I read somone post they lost 7 pounds that week or something like that. Mainly because "before" I acutally lost huge amounts in a week doing weight watchers...one week 7 pound and another week 10. And I was eating far more when I experienced those losses than I am now.

I take comfort because I don't think I will be nearly as likely to gain back this time. Those times on WW, I pretty much knew I was playing a losing game so to speak. I don't feel that way this time. Yep, it's coming off very slowly compared to some. But this time, I'm donating my clothes as soon as they are too big. Trust me, I have never done that before!

Hi

I had my sleeve with Dr.Kelly March 15th, So far I lost 95lbs (in 5.5 months) But this whole month i Ihave been stuck in the 170's. I'm very happy with the current weight loss but there is no doubt that it is now stalling. First part of the stall i was being very good and sticking to my "diet" consistantly, but as I didn't lose much, I've kind of been getting off track and not making the best choices.

I talked to a friend who had a lapband many years ago and she said to up my Protein and exercise. So I plan to go to costco and get the premade shakes that are 30g protein per shake. Iam gonna kick start this weight loss again if it kills me! (not really if it KILLS me haha).

But I totally feel your pain and frustration. We can do it though! I have 40lbs left to go and I'm not stopping now! I'm going ALL THE WAY! And you can too! Good luck sister! I'm rootin' for ya!

Thanks, Dinah

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
