Hello everyone,

My name is Rhonda and I have been watching this forum since the day after surgery. I have major support from my family but I need support from people who have been through EXACTLY what I have been through. I must admit I was a little hesitant to post on the forum. For one because I did not want to put my numbers on here. But then I thought I will never be that way again so I am posting out of excitement to get to know you guys better and for your support on my journey. I will say that I feel like I already know some of you guys because you always update us on what is going on and to give good advice on different situations. I read this post several times a day and smile, get teary eyed, and laugh at some of the things posted. But most of all very excited and proud of the results that everyone is producing.

A little about me I am married with 2 young boys. I am from Atlanta born and raised. I have struggled my whole life with being overweight. I don't know what skinny feels like and I have never met "GOAL" on any weight loss program but for the first time I feel that this is attainable.

Now to the numbers my highest weight was 397 lbs. I had my surgery on 8/26/2011. On Thursday I will be 3 weeks out. As of this morning I weighed and I am down 44 lbs. My current weight is 353 lbs. I look forward to chatting with you on this wonderful journey.

Welcome! I am kinda new here too. I started lurking the week before surgery and I have been a regular poster since I had the sleeve on 8/8. I have enjoyed the forums too. We are all in this together and support each other. Everyone has a different tale to tell and their experience is different and we can learn from each other! Congrats on your surgery and good luck to you!

That is awesome news, Rhonda! Way to go. I just got back from my 2 week check-up with my doctor and he said things are looking good. He also said to remember that this is a marathon and not a sprint. I need to keep telling myself that information as I keep thinking I should lose weight faster.

My journey started out on November 16, 2010. That day - I went for my initial consultation and I weighed a whopping 400.6 pounds. How embarrassing to let myself get that heavy. I had to wait until the hospital that I was having surgery at was fully accredited before my insurance would cover my surgery. I waited (and thought a lot) until the middle of July to hear that the clinic was finally done with their accredidation and I could schedule my surgery. My surgery was set for August 31, 2011. The day before surgery, I saw my surgeon and my weight was at 381.8 (thanks to the pre-op diet!). Today, my weight was 366.8. I have a long ways to go - but I know I have a lot of support - with my friends and family and also my new friends on this site!

Hello everyone, My name is Jocelyn. I live in a small but big tourist town Bardstown, KY. I don't really use this forum very much, been busy with kids on fall break. But anyways I had my surgery on 8/17/11, so about 7 wks out. The time has actually flown by, I have lost a total of 41lbs. 12 pre-op, the rest post-op. I have went down 4 jean sizes, and 2 shirt sizes. Im so loving this new life. It is a journey though and I am still very new to all the changes... Its hard sometimes, when your at family functions, ballgames, or just out with your friends. Sometimes I forget that I cant eat like the rest... Im not talking about eating alot, just about eating and drinking at the same time, or watching what im drinking.. Its not east, buts its not hard either. The little bit of pain and discomfort was well worth it...

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
