Things I can't wait to do!

Recommended Posts

I am 4 weeks from surgery and I am constantly thinking of things I want to do that I haven't been able to because of my weight. I'm sure this has been posted before, but for us newbies, lets keep track of the things we want to be able to do after we have lost our weight....

I want to...

Buy underwear & bras at Victorias Secret instead of Lane Bryant

I want to be able to buy my work scrubs and not pay the additional $3.00 per item for a larger size.

I also want to be able to fit my butt in an airline seat and not worry about if I even will fit.

And last but def not least, I can't wait to feel better!

My son is getting married next year in the fall and I can't wait to go shopping for my dress. I will be able to pick what I want to wear instead of taking a dress only because it is all that available in the plus size department.

I can't wait to feel confident in a swimming suit. Totally feeling the sexy panty thing too. Shopping in the regular section will be fabulous. I love the one about not having to pay the extra $ for plus size scrubs!!!! So many things we have been missing out on!

I can't wait until I am able to wear the t-shirts they give away at Kansas City Royals baseball games.

I can't wait to not feel sticky and sweaty the moment there is any humidity in the air, even if the temp is 70 degrees.

I can't wait to have the whole world selection of clothes - to find my style instead of putting up with what is least offensive in the big girl's section of the store.

To start - I would like to be able to bend over and easily tie my own shoes, slide easily into booths and tables with attached benches, and not fear airplane seats and be able to go on rides :) I would like to wear short sleeves and shorts again - I am too embarrased to nowadays. even around my own family.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
