suez1105 2 Posted September 12, 2011 Ok, so I posted on here before about my surgeon's office saying they wait until right before my surgery to submit my paperwork. Well, my surgery is scheduled for this Monday, Sept 19, and I called the office on Friday to check to see if they had heard anything about me being approved yet. She said she was just submitting my paperwork to them that day! I am seriously going to be mad if I get denied this close to my surgery. I mean, I don't understand why they don't submit my paperwork after all my prerequisites were met! I have had all my appointments finished for at least 6 weeks already, just seems odd that they wouldn't submit everything sooner in case I was denied so we could try and rectify the situation. I know a lot of people are initally denied because of missing paperwork or needing something small from your doctor or surgeon which is easily correctable but since they are waiting so long, if I am initally denied, then it will push my surgery back. Normally this wouldn't be a problem, but I work in a hospital, our schedules are made a month in advance, I can't just take off whenever I want. I think I will initally be denied, I just have no luck when it comes to things I want, everything always has to be harder for me then everyone else. I had initally prepared myself for being denied, but would think I would be approved because like I said, why should anything in my life be easy, but figured it would be sent early enough that if any problems did arise, it would be fixed before my surgery date. Does anyone else's doctor do this?
Rebel 9 Posted September 12, 2011 No my doctor submitted the day after my seminar And i was approved 2 weeks to the day after. Sorry you are having to deal withthis. Pray about It and then wait with hopeful expectation.
Mr-Smith 7 Posted September 12, 2011 I can certainly understand your concern and it would seem to me the surgeon would want to have the approval sooner rather than latter as well so it seems odd to me they waited so close to your surgery date. My approval and extension were each turned around in a couple days so you may be fine. That was with Aetna.
Monica_Lynn 0 Posted September 13, 2011 No way. My surgeon's office wouldn't give me a surgery date until my insurance approval was received. I sure do hope everything works out for you!
MeMeMEEE 206 Posted September 13, 2011 Be proactive and all your insurance they day after they submit to make sure it is moving along!
peacequeen 434 Posted September 13, 2011 I have to go through every step,,psych eval, nutritionist, consultation of all sorts, every last form, crossed t and dotted i.. before everything is submitted to the insurance company. It's supposed to help me get approved. I don't know, it's confusing how some get approved in days and some of us have waited months or years. I understand for self pays but if you're insured it's a whole different process.

suez1105 2 Posted September 13, 2011 Good news everyone, I got THE call from my surgeon's office, I was approved today!!!! I did have faith in the office, BUT, I know how fickle the insurance companies can be. I was worried more about them, I have heard them deny people for the stupidest thing, even if you have done everything they asked. Thank you all for your support and I can't wait to be on the loser's bench!!! Only 5 more days, woo hoo!!!
SittingPretty 16 Posted September 13, 2011 That's great news!! My insurance approved me in less than 24 hours too and we have the same surgery date. Are you on the pre-op diet now?
suez1105 2 Posted September 13, 2011 That's great news!! My insurance approved me in less than 24 hours too and we have the same surgery date. Are you on the pre-op diet now? My doctor doesn't require any pre-op diet except for the day before I have to be on Clear liquids. That is why I think the whole 2 week liver shrinking thing is bull malarky, if it were really true I would think we would all be required to do it. Anyway, good luck to you too on Monday, PM me so we can chat after our surgeries!!
