Glutton for punishment

I must be insane. I don't really know what else to think. I hope someone can explain this to me. I have about 1 week left on my pre-op liquid diet and I can't stop cooking! Yesterday I made my family french toast for Breakfast, BLT's for lunch, Lasagna/Cesar salad/Garlic bread for dinner and a GIANT batch of homemade chocolate chip Cookies. I also tossed some chili in the crock-pot before bed. I am making oatmeal raisin cookies now and have the entire day planned out food wise. I am not making simple foods that I would normally make. I'm doing "from scratch" recipes that are time consuming. I am NOT eating any of it. In full disclosure, I took a big fat bite of the BLT (which I had been craving since day 1 of pre-op) but promptly got sick. It was so salty to me! I threw it all away.

I almost got ill watching my husband scarf down dinner last night. The amount was obscene to me, but in reality it was our "normal" serving size. He is not fat at all...he is about 175 and 5'10". I also can't stop cleaning. I almost feel like I'm nestingblink.gif I'm not talking your normal cleaning. I'm talking my military parents would be proud cleaning! WTH?

I was really tired all last week but yesterday I woke up with so much energy and I KEPT it! Is this normal? Oh, on our walk last night my husband got tired and wanted to come home and I wanted to keep on walking. That has never happened before!

LOL!!! I did the exact same thing! I was making all kinds of fancy meals and baked goods, using spices and flavorings that I had never worked with and I didn't eat a bite! I became obsessed with Ina Garten and tried about 5 of her recipes! The hubby and kids loved it! It must fufill something in our psyche while we sip our Protein shakes!!! Hang in there! And know that soon enough you will be able to taste the things you make!!!!

Maybe your mind is telling you to satisfy someone with food, even if it's not yourself. And that does sound like nesting.lol

I know Ina is the barefoot contessa but I can't stop singing In A-Gadda-Da-Vida whenever I hear her name!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
