I had watermelon as soon as I was allowed soft foods. Be sure to start with a small amount (in the beginning I could only eat a tiny bite!), chew it well, and enjoy--mind the seeds! You really don't want an accidental watermelon seed in your healing sleeve.

I tried it pretty early as well, when I was able to eat soft food. I couldn't eat very much of it either.

Awesome! Thanks ladies. I am on soft foods now and was curious. My two books I have (one from Nut and one from Doc) do not say the same things. Plus my doctor has me on a different stage than the book would have me. I am so excited.

I juiced mine and had it on the liquid stage. I mixed in some peach Protein Powder and it was pretty good. I tried not to have too much of it though because it does have a lot of sugar. It didn't bother my stomach at all, but I didn't want to chance it.

Watermelon continues to be a problem food for me at 5 months after surgery. Even just eating a few pieces will send my stomach into spasms. I think its because of the high sugar content. It was a food I loved prior to surgery, but not so much today.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
